Heritage Days are Coming to Our Chateau! Dining Room Restoration

Journey to the Château, Ep. 231 - In this Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart are back to work in the Chateau de Colombe dining room (salle à manger) to prepare for their participation in the annual Heritage Days in France. Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) kick off the new cultural season with an unmissable opportunity to discover France's finest treasures and to rediscover the culture of the country. This year Château de Colombe will be a participant in this annual event, with the date set for the weekend of September 21 to 22, 2024. Also, Patrick and Stuart meet up with friends to go shopping at a large brocante in Hérisson, France, and they share an update and video of their rescue kitten, Figaro.

`Wow! That's a big undertaking in such a short time, but that dining room is going to be exquisite. I love that blue, the perfect colour for any room (I love blues!) the white against it makes it pop so well. Can't wait to see the finished reveal! Figaro is a real little bundle of joy, he's doing so well, and acting exactly like a kitten of his age should. You don't realise how tiny he is until you see him playing with shoelaces beside a shoe! Onwards and upwards! The Heritage Days will be amazing!

Great work on the dining room, getting rid of some of those distracting details. My folks had their historic home on a tour, when I was in high school - I remember the hard work! But I also remember the pride. I know you’ll have fun talking to whoever comes by. My guess… half to 2/3 of the locals in your area. A great way to meet the neighbors you don’t know yet. ♥️

Great idea for cabinets on the cabinets. I’m lucky that I have kitchen cabinets all the way to my 9 foot ceilings… I’ve never understood why most aren’t made that way - it doesn’t matter how much storage you have, you always need more. Especially you two, who entertain and have the BnB. The top cabinets require a tall step stool, but that’s fine! 👍
