In this video Journalist and Videographer James Lanser explores how Venezuelan migrants get from their coastal Venezuelan city of Guiria to Trinidad. This video specifically deals with West-Trinidad and East-Venezuela cross points.
It should be noted that although Chaguaramas is the closest entry point it is not the only entry point.

Trinidad and Tobago does not have borders, we have coastlines, the Coast guard is not doing what they are supposed to do, also news around is that a lot of illegal stuff is coming through the legal ports of entry, so somebody "eatin ah big plate food"

I believe you need to give minister young your drone to give to the coast guard because like they don't have any so they can fly over the islands in the gulf.

A few of you criticized James' use of the "border" term. It's really just symantics in this instance people. Perhaps "coastline" was the more technically accurate vernacular, but any adult viewing the video should have still comprehended the main message of the report.

If the Ven situation does not change, they are going to outnumber the Trinidadian population and with their track record they will fight the weak Trinidadians and government, as they are already doing, who will not have the guts to stand up for their country. Just my opinion. Its coming. You better learn Spanish. The greed for money and corruption make things worst. Some people who are on this planet for a short while just think of their pockets and don't care how they destroy their country. One day these people will treat the locals like garbage.

As a Venezuelan/Trinidadian I am proud of our regional culture and beauty of our people and our scenic environment. Thank you for educating us.

No Venezuelan wants to leave their country unless they're wealthy and have a house in Miami. It's a survival thing. Do you think they like our murder rate, xenophobia and gang violence? No. And don't treat Venes like they haven't done anything for Trinidad. Many of our families came from there and still have ties. What amazes me is how slow the UN Applications are moving for relocation and this is a problem even before Covid.

It's a sad situation, as many are leaving due to wanting a better life...BUT, they become victims of trafficking and smuggling in this process. Not to mention the stigma, discrimination, and exploitation by local citizens. This may lead to Gender-Based Violence, poor mental health, and STI/HIV transmission. What I have noticed is many Venezuelans are using technology to migrate. In close to legitimate ways by going onto social media sites and capturing lonely and irrational men and women into believing they are in a relationship and asking for assistance in documents and /or apace to stay. What is sad is to unsuspecting, nieve locals they believe in finding love in a relationship on Facebook or Instagram and put their lives at risk. The result you are harboring an irregular migrant who may affect your life here not only by just being illegal and being a fraud but they could produce anchor children at the state's expense to stay or transit to another country.

Trinidad is pretty small island. I would think it would be easy to catch them once they are there.

One of the first things the former PM did when she got into office was sell the high-tech coast guard boats the previous PM had bought, so for five years T&T were operating on some really low-tech boats. Then again, everyone knows that our coastline is totally open. Their population is about 30 times that of T&T and at this rate it would take just about five years for them to be about 1/3 of our population.

Your attempt to explain how Venezuelan citizens enter Trinidad and Tobago does have its merit in its approach to HOW it may be done. However you keep using the term “ MIGRANT” throughout your video, which is absolutely ridiculous. These Venezuelans cannot be considered as migrants, since they enter into the country outside the proper “legal” channels. Therefore those entering Trinidad via your description are considered “ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS “...not Venezuelan migrants. There are proper ways of “migrating” from one country to another across international borders via air, land or sea. Anything outside these proper channels are illegal and those found to be doing so can be prosecuted by law. Also, don’t be fooled by those dock owners talking about the reduced influx of illegals. In this world...MONEY TALKS my young friend. They’re not going to expose themselves if they’re up to any wrong doing as long as they’re being handsomely paid.
