I’ve written and produced over 600+ songs in GarageBand in two years and it’s all I need and more importantly, simple. I write so many songs that I wouldn’t have the time nor patience to learn how to use another app. Trust me on this, it’s the music you create that will make it not the recording.

I have both GB and Logic, but ya know what would be interesting, Charles? To list out maybe 10 big hits or artists who we'd all recognize who released a song totally produced on GB so we could say, "Hey, if THEY can do a song on GB and it sounds like that, maybe we can too".

I make music just as a hobby, have Logic, and I really like it, but I didn't get it until after many years of using Garageband. I would recommend others do the same. Like if you even have this question, "Should I use Logic or Garageband?" then the answer is probably Garageband. I don't think you should get Logic until you have a very specific reason, like "Logic does x that Garageband can't do." Those years I spent using Garageband were invaluable, due not only to the simplicity... I still find that at least 75% of what I do in Logic can be done in Garageband exactly as well. So if you're getting Logic just because it's "the real" DAW, without specific reasons to get it, I would stay with Garageband for now. It has an extremely similar layout to Logic and in many ways is like a Logic tutorial. Garageband is very good for how accessible it is. Still one of my favorite tracks I ever made was entirely made in Garageband, and I haven't recreated it in Logic nor do I see a reason to. It came out exactly how I wanted it to in Garageband.

I'm newer to production and using garageband. The biggest limitation I've found is that most tutorials on how to do things I'm trying to do are in logic or abelton.

It's nice to watch a video where the person stays on point. I am sure we all have seen video's on YouTube where people talk about their personal lives instead of the chosen subject. Excuse my long winded response here, but your video's have have inspired to to try the Magic of Music itself.

Very straight to the point. You're absolutely right. Thanks for clarifying the differences, specially for people like me that I'm just a beginner.

So nice to hear something good about this cool little program! I've been getting some great results but still find it a bit odd when it refuses to recognize my Amp modeller (Valeton GP-100) or Line 6 Pod Studio GX( old but sound great. Other than some unbalanced bass notes in my synth music I love it it has a great EQ1 Subbed!

Thank you so much for sharing all your thoughts and information.
I bought an Apollo 8 but have not used it yet. Will it work on garage band?
Love to learn from your channel.
Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️

I don't really need the loops in GarageBand except for the Drummer Kit loops. I have used those. I am mostly a 2-guitars, bass and drums kind of guy. Run my tube amp through a Captor X into my AI into GB. Is it easier to master and mix on Logic? That's what I want to know. I'm making basic jangle rock music that I sometimes put out on YouTube or Bandcamp. I'm not here to make a million dollars.

I used Logic Pro for several years, then life happened and I got sidetracked into marriage and home ownership. Getting back to it... honestly I DON'T want to deal with it. No matter how much I used it, it never became intuitive for me and was never 'fun'. Since I'm not a professional musician, it just ceased to be worth it to me. So recently when I got back to recording at home I just started tracking in GarageBand. My effects are printed live now via the UA Console. And then when I'm done, I do some mastering type of things in UA's Luna. All the UA stuff is because I was deeply into that world and have a few grand in UA plug-ins. I'm happy using them live and then in LUNA to master. Mmmmmaybe I'll switch to Luna for the whole thing? I dunno. I just like how dumb-simple GarageBand is.

your videos are always very clear and pleasant to watch and nice comments!

I am a bassist myself who makes drum grooves from the list of GB that I am a fan of, just nice and simple.

Play with my basses via interface and use an M-audio master board for support (synt patches or piano)

I have been in doubt for a long time about Logic pro

Does Logic sound that much better than GarageBand in its sound engine?
In GB I can also load files/waves from Logic from musicians who do use it.

Or is upgrading my interface (i-track solo Focusrite) a better investment?

thank you in advance for your advice!

There’s a Ipad version of Logic, which I’m guessing is a limited version, as it’s only $50 a yr? Any insights on this version?

if i want to do this as a career is it worth learning ogic pro or sticking with Garage band. This is as a solo musician and a worship band.

This is all so true. I don't record enough to upgrade. I started on GB iOS and the GB on my MacBook. Logic Pro seems so daunting when I just wanna do some folk pop or minimal metal core.

I need to make a decision on GB or Pro. My MAC is old enough that I cannot download the free version of GB. It’s new enough to download and purchase PRO. I’d have to buy a whole new MAC ($1000+) or buy logic ($300). The savings are there if I just choose Logic Pro. Let me know if you have any insights here.

I use GarageBand I don't use midi stuff everything I use as a singer Songwriter are all real percussion instruments and guitars and mandolin or an accordion
I get it to best I can then send it off to a mastering guy. So I don't know if logic would be any better for me

I produced a lot fo great sounding music in GB but I would say that the biggest limitation is drum sounds. I'm a drummer and I make electronic music, honestly I mostly make drum arrangements using my Drum machines or Grooveboxes, can't beat the sound.
The garageband drum machines are pretty lame for my music taste. That's me though. I love the synths and once you download a few cool VSTs or Audio Units like Klevgrand Valhalla it will sound awesome.

I have both but I started with GB. LP definitely takes up a lot of space.

You didn’t mention that GarageBand is also available for free on iPhone and iPad.
