The president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has repeated his call for the US to base nuclear weapons on Polish soil.

Duda, who is also commander-in-chief of the Polish armed forces, said today's Russia is at least as aggressive as the former Soviet Union.

Positioning US nuclear weapons in Poland would be viewed by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a provocation.

But President Duda views the proposal as a defensive measure to strengthen deterrence.

Poland is a true ally of The UK, and I, as a Brit, owe a debt of gratitude to, and will never forget, the brave Polish pilots who fought in the air alongside their British counterparts during the Battle of Britain and helped us defeat the Luftwaffe, effectively putting an end to Hitler's invasion plans. God bless the people of that great country.

If NATO does not want to include Poland in nuclear sharing, it also means that it treats Poland as a second-class country in NATO and mainly cannon fodder, and this also says a lot about credibility.

Frankly, calling the US for help is a waste of time. France might be a better option

The US is an unreliable partner. I urge Poland to continue building their defences, and to consider developing a Polish nuclear arsenal, rather than building further dependence upon the US. Looks at us in Canada... We are their largest trade partner, we have integrated our military in regards to aerospace defence, and we've fought at their side in every conflict they've had, and still they decide randomly that now they want to annex us, and to use a trade war (violating treaties they have signed) to weaken us as part of that strategy. If you ask the US for protection, they may just decide that conquering you themselves is the best protection.

The Polish have liberated the town Roosendaal in the sourth of the Netherlands during WOII. They used a churchill tank the story goes. I've been to this memorial like 6 months ago on a town square. Very impressive. Still after such time. Great feelings of gratitude.

Better to go with UK, America is unreliable and there is increased risk that America could side with Russia and decide that Poland should be ceded to Russia. UK has always had long standing and close ties with Poland.

In 2025 Poland is going to spend nearly 5% GDP on the military. That's why Poland should be covered with the Nuclear Sharing programme - to show everyone in NATO that every $ spent on your own country's safety will be doubled (in the categories of safety) by all NATO members.

"Real fear"... Sir, there is evidence that either Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania will be next... or Poland. Poland is not over-reacting. Western Europe also thought that the Poles were mad when they were arming before 1939.

The ties between Poland and the US are VERY deep and their longstanding relationship will survive the current, very unfortunate rhetoric out of the White House.

'Does it really matter whether Russia sees it as "provocation"?

Nukes = no attack. No Nukes = a chance of really bad things happening if either Nato or the European Union fall through.'

As an American I think all our military should be moved from Germany to Poland🇵🇱.

Having a Polish father, I can tell you that the Poles have a long memory when it comes to Russia. My father spent two years in a Russian Labour camp after being caught crossing from German occupied Poland to Russian occupied Poland. God only knows how long he would have been there if Germany hadn't turned on Russia. He then had the choice of fighting with the Russians or the British. On choosing the British the Russian officer tried to intimidate him into choosing them, but luckily the British officer supported his right to choose.

You don't stop a bully by placating him. You have to be strong enough to give him a bloody nose!

Asking agent Krasnov for help is a silly idea.

Not a week goes by without Europe reminding the world how impotent they are without America. But here in America there is actually a lot of sympathy to Poland as one of the very few countries in NATO who’s been taking their defense seriously.

Most stupid statement I have ever heard in my life. Nuclear weapons aren’t offensive weapons. No such thing as a purely defensive weapon.
