Over roughly the past decade cruise ships have gotten big… real big. As one line makes a ship that’s larger, carries more passengers, and offers eye-catching activities, others then play catch-up in the “arms race” to build ships that everyone is talking about.

So it’s no surprise that in recent years ships have only gotten bigger. With that in mind, here are the current largest ships in each fleet as of right now in order from smallest to largest.

What's your favorite BIG ship? Also, don't forget to check the outtakes at the end. Youtubin' is harder than it looks!

I am honestly not a fan of these mega-ships. They’re vastly overrated imo and make embarkation day a nightmare. Also, I find that the restaurants and entertainment options are always insanely overcrowded since there are literally 5000+ people on board

I don’t think I can go on a bigger ship unless I’m going on a longer sailing or a B2B. I would feel like I wouldn’t have enough time to do everything. That’s why I booked a B2B on the Carnival Celebration.

We were justing talking about this, how long do you think it takes Royal Carribbean, for example, to amortize the cost of a new ship? Months, years? And/or how long on some of the older ships that get a refurb to keep up to date?

Great video, and love the comparison to the Eiffel Tower to give us an idea of scale. Love the outtakes too.

Royal Caribbean is astonishingly far ahead of every other cruise-line in the world for ruling not just the title of biggest cruise-ship in the world, but #2, #3, #4 & #5 largest in the world and no end in sight...No other ship announced or planned by any other cruise-line is even close to Icon of the Seas, which is already complete, has passed all of its sea-trials, and is fully booked for the inaugural sailing in January (just a few months away)!

I've been on the allure and smaller norwegian ships. I prefer the service on the smaller ships. Wasn't impressed with the allure layout. Huge but small venues with too many people.

I just got off Mardi Gras March 11. She was perfect. But only because I made it an intimate cruise. I cruise solo. I am a girl. I was in the Havana area. Very small intimate part of the ship. I made friends with everyone and felt like I was in a private yacht. Bigger is not necessarily better. But every sship is what you make of it.

Really cool to see the ships and their stats compared side by side! I was also on the Celebration when you were there, and loved the views of the ship from Roatan, really gives perspective on the sheer size of the ship!
