On top of hailing from an artistic family, being the daughter of celebrated actress and GFF advisory board member Hiam Abbass and French actor Zinedine Soualem, Lina Soualem has carved her own space within Arab cinema. The actress and filmmaker caught several eyes last year with her documentary ‘Their Algeria’, an intriguing and focused delve into the lives of her paternal grandparents’ lives in Algeria. The film won the inaugural Docs in Progress Award in Cannes 2019, premiered at digital film festival Visions du Reel in Nyon and now has hit GFF for an Arab World premiere.
