In this video I am reviewing the Canton Reference 2 HiFi Speakers, a serious high end speaker from Germany's largest speaker manufacturer. The Reference is from Canton flagship speaker line with number 2 being the second from the top, or second largest tower speaker in the range.

I bought a pair of Canton Reference 3 speakers last winter. Your thoughts on soundstage projection and imaging specificity is spot on, Terry. The Cantons are 'music first' speakers, for sure. I love the way they present voices with astonishing plasticity and with an extremely physical presence in my room. And I love their playing style: it's forward, kind of 'in front of the speaker planes' projection of music. This is very appealing. It's not too much 'in your face' like some speakers present music, but it isn't laid back at all either. Just brilliant speakers.

Nice review of one of the big hitters from Germany, Canton underrated here in the UK. Nice one Terry, now time to review some Zellatons speakers(think oldest speaker brand in Germany), also one of my dream speakers.

Great review Terry. I have Canton A45 floorstanders which use the previous Reference range tungsten ceramic drivers. The sonic signature you describe is very familiar. I've used mine with solid state power, KT88 Cayin valve and valve/mosfet hybrid amps and they easily reveal their characteristics, but they're more musical than ultra from Australia

Excellent review! These speakers would probably overwhelm my room aesthetically if not acoustically. Definitely a statement piece.

Excellent review there Terry. These speakers look really nice. I also like the adjustable settings for mid-range and treble. This reminds me of some high end old B&W speakers back from the 70's where they had adjustable +/- mid and treble switching on the front baffle. Showing my age now!

They're so beautiful, sounds amazing, and would be an end-game speaker for me. Just Wow.

The drivers are made in Czech Republic in their own factory. The assembly is done in Germany if I understand it right. However that’s the important part, that they are perfectly matched as pairs. The Reference GS is their highest end model, then the 1s and then 2s. Also the bass waveguide works well on the real rooms as the bass opening towards the rear is less wider than the one towards the front. You can place them near the wall and without getting them boomy.

Man! I just love your reviews my brother. I once owned Canton speakers in 1990s, it appears nothing has changed. Solid, tight and weighty sound, airing towards not so bright, unlike B&Ws. Similar to Wharfedale, these speakers dissappear in the room, definatetly not analytical type of speaker. You just enjoy these speakers they whole day without fatigue.👌🏼❤️ Sadly being back in Africa, can get anywhere. 😢😢

Banger of a review, as always. Your delivery is spot-on. As for the Title... For 17.000, they'd better sound good!
