Am I Insane? I sent in 9.9 and 10.0 graded PGX slabs to CGC to be regraded.

I sent seven PGX graded comic books, that had all been graded either 9.9 or 10.0 over to CGC for crossover grading. Now that CGC is "looking for" 9.9 and 10.0, would any of the PGX grades hold up? Keep in mind, there are two major variables working against keeping the grade. First the comic must be removed from the PGX case and inner well, this is an opportunity for handling flaws to be introduced. Second, I paid for a quick press, my thought was not having the book pressed was riskier than doing so, due to having to remove the book from the holder. So this was another opportunity for handling issues. As a result, this is nothing more than entertainment, and cannot be considered a fair or scientific experiment in any way.

In my opinion you should not pay them to press, it’s just a waste of money. You were better off removing the slab yourself and sending them in.

I seen other channels that cracks pgx slabs before they send the books to cgc. One channel (I don't remember the name) would send pgx slabs in to cross over.The books would lose a grade but when they started to crack the slabs the grade remained the same or got bumped up a grade.

I’m wouldn’t say you’re insane but I for one don’t submit my comics for slabbing. I’ve been collecting comics for sixty years and am not interested in the process. Why? Because of probabilities involved.

I collect for the joy of it and nothing more! But thanks for the lesson you just taught me.

I sent books to CGC for pressing i would never press it again from them CGC is a big scam it’s cool to grade them but not a fan of the process I would be mad if I had those grades from CGC u should hav got them 9.9 save your money man

I applaud your effort. IMO, sending books in to CGC that are already slabbed by another company puts you at a disadvantage. They're the top dog and want to show you why their "standards" are higher than the rest. PGX, CBCS, etc. may all be smaller but they are competition.

If you crack ten different CGC 9.9's & 10.0's, and send them back to CGC, you will get back ten 9.6's & 9.8's.

I've got a signed platinum 10 pgx frankenstein retail signed by Wrightson and Niles that I bought for a song a few years ago! I'm afraid to do anything with it! 😂

Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever use CGC pressing. Ever

They are assembly line pressing service and with the speed and mass they are doing, these minor errors and flaws arise all the time

I recently received four issues of the same Famous Monsters magazine two graded 9.8 and two 9.9 by CGC. What are my options if I want to have the two 9, 9's regraded to possibly get a 10?

When you said at the beginning that you left them in the PGX slabs and let CGC crack them, my immediate first thought was "Every one of those books are going to be 9.8 or lower." CGC is not going to let any company's work be equal to theirs. They want you to think that their grading is more meticulous and decerning. They want everyone to believe they grade on a harder scale and don't give out perfect grades to just any book. It's not good business to say "Yeah, PGX got it right. You can use them too. They are just as good as us".
