An intensity brush can be used for so much, and affinity makes it pretty easy to make your own custom intensity brushes. when you know how to do it, you can make whatever brush you want. Just follow the recipe in this tutorial and you'll be golden.

Don't get me wrong, I still love adobe photoshop and lightroom, but I don't like paying $120 a year just for those 2 programs. if they added Adobe reader DC full version and Audition media encoder that might be a reasonable price to pay.

Things are called a little bit different than PS and you going to have to amend your workflow a little since they can not copy exactly what PS is doing. In certain areas, they have surpassed PS, and all other areas Affinity Photo is just as good. I want to help you save money, and I believe that it's good for Adobe to get stiff competition from Affinity. that will make both retouching software better!

Affinity has been giving me issues since 1.7, I'm at 1.9.1979. Can't make intensity brushes any more, the black background is the only thing that shows or colors. So I'm trying to find the answer. When I follow your example the perlin noise is so dark that inverting adjustment causes the white to go black. I vaguely remember something about working or not working in cmyk but can't find anything about it online. The affinity help tutorial seems to not working again so i can't get an answer there. (I miss books and manuals) I work with home printers not web or rgb. I don't see why it matters but somewhere I think I read it did. I didn't see that you chose one in particular.
