2023 Acura Integra 6-Speed Review: It's Fantastic, Stop Complaining

The 2023 Acura Integra is a wonderful car, just like the 11th-gen Honda Civic it's built on. No, it's not a faithful, modern replica of the DC2 Integra Type-R that the Entire Internet seemed to want, but quitcherwhining because this is a fabulous, nice little sport sedan. Acura tossed us the keys to a 2023 Integra A-Spec with 6-speed manual transmission for the week, and while we really liked the '22 Civic used as this car's base, we loved the 2023 Integra even more.

I bought a GTI a few years ago but I would have bought a CIVIC Si if it had a hatchback / liftback model. This would have been ideal for me. I probably will go for a bigger, EV for my next vehicle.

Great review on a great-looking car! If I were in the market I’d spec it like your test vehicle— 6 speed w red interior. Either the white or grey exterior. I owned a 94 LS coupe in black over tan with the manual. Great fun in that car, and the hatch was super useful.
Thank you!

Thanks for the review, very spot on! Just got my Integra 2 weeks ago, and absolutely love it.

Looking forward to this. I think most of the issue with the Integra is it’s similarity to the Civic Si, which is less expensive. I personally don’t see too much of an issue but can see how some might.

Finally someone that mentions the hatch is the real comparison. He could have highlighted that a little more... Its the only way to get all the features of the top line sport touring hatch with the drivetrain of the Si. perfect world... and yes.. .thats what the integra has always been. expecting the integra to only be a Type R is just silly. Found a great channel! thanks for being honest and thorough!

Love the new Integra, I personally dont like how the new civic looks, i think it looks kind of boring .... but now i dont know if i should buy the integra because of the negative comments... here in Mexico the civic si is not in the market so it kind of makes more sense but im not sure

If this car was a coupe i would have never bought one, i just got out of a useless mustang with no space for anything, The integra os sporty has all the space and is good gas ⛽

I agree that the new Integra appears to be a nice sporty entry level luxury sedan. And it's true... the Integra was historically a gussied up Civic. But the big source of disappointment is that the Integra, mainly from the Type R, became a legendary nameplate. It's a nameplate that should have stayed in the Acura vault until there was a design that could live up to what it has become. And the way Acura teased the return of the Integra name didn't point to the upright compact luxury profile with a big formal grille that it is. I'm willing to bet that this car was designed to wear the ILX name until someone decided at the last minute to call it Integra to cash in on the return of legendary nameplates such as Ford did with the Bronco. (Can you imagine the uproar if Ford just made a slightly shorter, two-row version of the Expedition and called it Bronco?) I think another issue is that they made this new Integra a cut above the Civic Si not by improving on what the Civic Si already provided, but by reducing the Civic Si to make the new Integra seem like a mechanical upgrade. Perhaps this would have all worked better if they introduced the new ILX, I mean Integra, with the Type S to back up what the Integra nameplate has become to so many people. Also... Integra nameplate + CVT = more disappointment. Regardless of the actual history of the Integra nameplate, the undeniable fact of the matter is that damage was done and Acura has an uphill battle.

I noticed when you opened the hood you didn't want to bring attention to that it has that silly cheap dipstick wire thingy to hold the hood up. So you just used your arm to hold it open while talking about the engine. For a lux brand that is a no-no.

Performance or lexury, this car does not live up a price tag of 35800. If they price this car 2k over the Si I bet everyone will love it, but who's gonna spend that much for a 1.5 when 2020 Type R's MSRP is at 36995?

Spot on. Excellent take and great video. A two-door with a wing would've been a deal breaker for me. I put my name down in early 2021 for the Integra. As it turned out, I got a text from my Honda dealer telling me that they got an allocation in on a white Honda Civic Si. Not even an hour later, the call came in from Bloomington Walser Subaru-Acura that my Integra was ready for delivery. I had a choice between the two. It was a no brainer. I bought the Integra 6MT A Spec. Absolutely no regrets. An amazingly fun car, and I couldn't imagine a better daily driver in the city.
