I understand the word Bottleneck is not technically accurate here. But we can all agree he wasn’t getting the full use out of his PC. Let’s not argue over such trivial things.

The analogy that came to mind is when you’re building an audio system. Typically, the most expensive component in a stereo setup is the speakers. This is because they have the most direct impact on your listening experience, much like a high-quality monitor affects your gaming experience. Just as your friend is aiming to maximize the data output to the screen, a good monitor enhances the overall experience, similar to how high-quality speakers enhance audio. When gaming, the computer handles the processing, but the monitor, along with your gaming peripherals like the keyboard, mouse, and controller, are crucial to your overall experience. The monitor is what you actually see and interact with, making it as important as any other component in the setup.

Man! That's awesome! He's lucky to have a buddy like you.
Buying a PC is hard when you don't have heaps of cash to throw around, it really is a big purchase. He chose well I think, putting as much as possible into the system. Then get the monitor later without compromising either. The monitor is always the wow part for me - it's like an ever changing piece of fine art. It's different for others I get that.

Lol curse google for spying into my conversations; last year, I upgraded my GPU, ram, SSD, and just now, I've finally updated one of the monitors from 1080p60hz to 1440p180hz. Suddenly, your video gets recommended to me 😎😂

7:00 Regarding the gamma settings for Windows, if you’re finding that the gamma isn’t correct for the operating system experience, there might be software available from the GPU manufacturer to adjust the gamma settings. Additionally, some monitors have built-in gamma adjustments. Since your video was posted two months ago, this may not be immediately relevant, but since it’s your friend, you could discuss this with him. I haven’t finished watching the video yet, so you might have already covered this.

The overarching question here is: "Why doesn't Russel have any furniture?"

Whats wrong with 1080p :D i have exaclty the same setup as your friend, and i targeted 2x 180hz 1080p monitors and money is not bottleneck for me at all. I'd rather play Native 1080p then upscaled DLSS quality or FG 1440p or 4k.

I mean there’s 1080p 60 monitors that suck and 1080p 60 monitors that rock. there’s 100 things that go into a good gaming monitor besides fps and Res. I think the most critical part is matching your screen size to the Res. If you have a 40 inch 1080p TV then you’re going to struggle with pixelation.

My PC is TUF RTX 4080 SUPER, I5 12600 NON K, 2 X 16G DDR4 32OOM/T, STRIX Z790-A gaming wifi D4 motherboard . My monitor is 180 HZ 1080p 24 inches FAST IPS , I don't see the reason for 1440p, as the next gen GPU 4K gaming will be a new standard . The worst part of 1440p is the scaling problem, 4K you can perfectly scale 1080p video , but 1440p is totally worse experience .

Wait all that and you didn't set up his old monitor as a second monitor for discord?
