An 8 year age difference isn't really that big a deal...my folks are 7 years apart. The thing that makes this somewhat borderline creepy is that Haru has known Ren since he was a small child, and he himself was already basically an adult at that time. I haven't seen the whole show but it seems like the romantic feelings didn't start in earnest until Ren started showing them? If I'm not mistaken, Ren's also 16/17 by the end of SL2, so he's still jailbait but it's not AS bad as it could be.

Before I watched the anime and on the basis of solely watching this amv, I concluded that Haru and Ren were some kind of supernatural/spiritual beings who were soulmates (cuz my mind didn't wrap around the fact that he kissed a child). Ren's spiritual form a wolf and Haru was an immortal who doesn't age and had been given the duty to protect and train little Ren. Even though Ren's body was little he was mature enough to understand that they were soulmates and were destined to be together. But Haru said that they can't be together then because this world would judge them. But Ren being a supernatural being grows up at an unnatural pace, both his intellect and his body. Ren is being hunted by some beings and he has nightmares about it and Haru tried to protect him and together they try to unravel the mystery of who is sending threats to Ren. I really thought the story would be somewhat like this 😂 Like why did they have to be adoptive brothers? Could have been a friend's brother or anyone who develops feelings towards Haru when he grows up. Like Haru literally considered and called him his little brother but Ren was very clear about his feelings!!
