Lots to consider including track layout. Road and track did a comprehensive comparison with two different track cars one was a z06 I cant remember the other car vs a 600 and a 1000 the cars were ridden by race car drivers the motorcycles by magazine editors for a sportbike magazine so they are great riders but not professional. End result was that cars break only slightly better modern sportbikes with abs really upped the game in breaking so a key track advantage although still there doesnt have much of a difference to be exploited. But cornering the bike was faster 3 to 5 mph in all but two turns when they checked to see how this was possible they discovered a sportbike at full lean in a turn with positive camber has a clear cornering advantage flat roads or roads with negative camber yield to the car. Most tracks have positive camber turns. Also the bike was able to run betterlines which you would have to look at there drawings to understand I think it might be do to the bikes size but I am not sure. But I will admit most high end car drivers are better pilots than motorcycle pilots. Most bike riders are rubbish they just aim there bike like a missile and fly in straight lines. Its just more work and concentration to use a bike at its potential.

My ZX10R cost only $16, 600 in my country, A GTR is 200k - no comparison in cost really. As some others have said though, I love both bikes and cars. When I have the money a GTR is pretty high on the list.

@relaxfoo And this type of situation happens how often??? In my experience, a car needs to be packing 600+ hp before it has a chance.

@DocWolph
no, they wrote $89, 950 and 530bhp. that's the MSRP and the power for all of the 2012 GT-Rs
and there's no Spec V for the U.S., so that's out of the equation

The 2010 GT-R has 485bhp rather than the 530bhp Aprilla stated. 530bhp is only produced from the 2012 GT-R as is the $89, 950 price they quoted.

@TheShafro Sorry but that is the '12 specs. You may be thinking to the '12 Spec V which is supposed to make 560hp.

Surprising for such a small and twisty track that the bike still had the edge on the car. Cool race.

@rottepung666 how did you change 176bhp to either of those figures?

Fun to think that the new Aprilia would clean either of these off the track. :)

The bike v. car challenges entirely depend on the layout of the track. A car like the GTR can brake later and carry significantly more corner speed than the bike can, but the bike will accelerate far harder down the straights thanks to its advantageous power to weight ratio. A tight turning circuit without long straights gives the car an advantage, and a circuit with longer straights will give the bike an advantage.

@YellowSSS You do realise that they also both have to accelerate out of each turn? The bike can accelerate out of the corners faster than the car, you just saw it in the video.

Of course the bike can also change direction faster than the car and will go through a chicane much easier.

The car was in front early in the race (looks like the bike rider screwed up the start). The bike then uses the superior acceleration out of the corners, combined with it's ability to change direction to pass 1:00

I couldn't help but notice that the car is a 2010, but the Specs are for a 2012.
The 2010 is about 70 HP less and significantly slower to 60.
a 2012 can also be had for just north of $70, 000 real world.

Not saying that a high sprung sport bike couldn't take it, just wanted to throw the correction in there.

Awesome Vid.

@MasonTrance My point was that even a great F1 champion does not look down his nose at bikes like lLogiKGamingl appears to. He sees the great skill, satisfaction and excitement that comes with riding high performance motorcycles. He doesn't care about bang for buck because he could own any super-car he wants. Other F1 drivers are also bike fans such as Nick Heidfeld, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel, Ayrton Senna, David Coulthard, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacky Ickx, Mika Hakkinen and Montoya.

The bike and car were not run head to head, they each had a clean lap of their own, actually MANY clean laps with out the other on the track. It just made for more fun having the two sharing the course for the video, the stats were all derived from individual runs.
In this test you are comparing one of the top two accelerating cars (0-70)awd low gear box) against one of the best bikes on the planet, fair comparison, bikes always win. Its much easier to throw 350 lbs around a track.

A Aprilia RSV1000R is the old model not the one shown which is considerably faster. And the skyline is even slower than a road legal 600 which did it in 7:17.

They are pretty respectable when fitted with rain tires and if you have a spare set of wheels then swapping them out takes only a few min. Not like jacking up a sports car which is a royal pain to do in the pits.

@MasonTrance It wasn't a MotoGp bike. It was a modded production superbike with British superbike champion. Where did you see lengthening wheelbase and stickier tyres?
Look up Ricky Gadson on YouTube and you will see stock Kawasakis have run low 9's and slightly modded, high 8's. MotoGp does indeed have equal or superior acceleration to F1. That is why on some circuits the bikes enter a straight slower but end up with a higher top speed. Of course F1 kills bikes under brakes and through turns.
