There’s no giant box of cables left by guests. They are always taken home by staff. We sell some at the front desk though. Probably not your size or brand though. Lol

Yeah I'm pretty sure the staff will be able to either 1. Remember your face 2. Ask follow up questions like: What's your room number? How long ago did you check out? Can you show proof of stay? But hey, if you want to be a thief that's on you.

Here in UK I've had to ask the front desk to borrow a charger from the lost n found before. No need to fib😂 They lend me one, I grab a coffee and we're all happy 🎉

It works for umbrellas. Ask at theaters and bookstores. Tell them you lost a black one.

Doesn't seem like this advice/hack even works based on these comments, which isn't surprising. My advice if you are traveling and realize you have lost your charger, visit the next large gas station you pass, as they always sell every type of charging cord and adapter you may need for cheap.

public transit lost and found has thousands of lost umbrellas, just go take your pick. the police have hundreds of recovered stolen bikes, just go describe "your lost" bike and if they have one that matches its yours to take. no one needs to know you didnt lose anything.
