I'm an autistic person who understands the kids completely because I know what it's like to not be able to communicate with others. Being autistic isn't a tragedy. It's a unique way of thinking. An autistic child is still the same child even with varying support needs. I have videos about autism that can help non autistic people understand us more. Also autism isn't a disease. It's how the brain is wired and we as autistics see the world.

You need to adhere to your child’s unique needs and provide adequate help that is NOT mentally abusive. God why is everyone so uneducated about autism this is very distressing to me

I’m looking forward to part II. This is a wonderful school these children go to. I have a very dear friend who has twins, now 16, the boy is autistic and very low functioning. Canada has very few resources for children with autism. His mom has to fight tooth and nail for any degree of help and now his ways and patterns are so set that it’s sad. He was diagnosed at around 2. Wish all these children could get serious help when first diagnosed. Thanks to all these families and the school for sharing. Keep up your devoted work. 🦋🦋🦋

I have autism and it’s a challenge every day!! I can’t drive or work and it does a number on my self esteem. People are usually proud of their autism. I hate mine!

I think that preventing a child stims is harmful. If that's how they cope and calm themselves then let them. It's no different in my eyes to someone regulating themselves by clicking a pen, tapping a table or even people that go for a smoke. Coming from an autistic mother with an autistic son. Helping them develop is important but completely trying to prevent their coping methods and themselves is harmful.

Flapping hands etc is aka stimming. You shouldn’t try and force them to stop it. What is this 1970’s ASD theory? You’re just teaching them to hide what they need to release emotion and outside stimulation. Ugh

I am a single mother of an autistic child. He was diagnosed at 2 1/2 years old. He has been in all therapies speech, occupational, physical, food and soon ABA therapy for four years. He is high functioning and is nonverbal. I feel everyone is different in their own ways. He is very intelligent with labeling, but chooses not to speak. He is extremely well with electronics, loves music even in other languages. And he is very handsome. He is very loving but also has his moments. I didn’t know much at all about autism but I’m trying my best to learn more and I believe that is all we can do. Social interaction is something I do a lot with my son. I know he is very special. I Hope for more help for everyone with autism! It is definitely not easy especially since the insurance doesn’t cover everything.

Having autism, I can relate to many of these children's challenges. My executive functioning is deficient because I struggle to filter out the many channels of sensory input that overload me all at once. For autistic people, every peripheral sensory stimulus is a distraction from day-to-day tasks and activities. That's why we have trouble engaging in the world around us. It's also why many of us are emotionally and behaviorally unstable. Thankfully, I'm verbal, but from observation, I know that nonverbal autistics get distracted the easiest by peripheral sensory input.

My daughter has autism. I seen it happen in front of my eyes she changed at 18 months to 20 months old. She stopped talking went backwards. She had to have speech therapy Occupational therapy behavior therapy play therapy . They tried to say she had ADHD then added OD then added bipolar. Yet when she was grown she was tested and they said what I had seen her whole life autism. She does live in her on place near me about one minute away. She has been tools to deal with getting overwhelmed these tools have helped her so much. She is a mother now of a little boy he is 4 years old and in pre k school. He has speech delays behavior problems he wants to run and play not pay attention he want all eyes on him. The teachers are overwhelmed with him. They want to get the school Psychologist to look at him to give the teacher's ideas on how to deal with him. He has had a IEP for a couple of years now. The Covid19 pandemic messed up his help a bit. I am hoping by getting him in pre k now will help by the time he is in first grade.

It is amazing how well every docu about autisme, escapes the-why, where does this neurological damage Come from?? How is it not compared with the state-adviced cemical injections of children, thats mindboggeling 🤔🤫🤭😇
