I'm not in the part of the black community or anything but this video breaks my heart.
I know that she has apologized.
But in some light-type of point,
She has made it seem like she was supposed to be "joking" or she didn't mean it.
I used to love her videos and looked forward to follow her art-style.
I mean I can't imagine how bad it would hurt if I was black and I found out my fav YouTuber being racist..
I'm so sorry for the black little baby fans of her.
They don't really deserve it.
Most of the black community always gets humiliated, insulted like this...
I hate it!
No one really insults or does this to asian people just because of their skin-tone.
Every skin tone is beautiful and compared the same!
We are just really evolving backwards ..
Now I know why,
The "women ☕ *meme"*
And these racism around the world like woah.
It needs to be stopped.
Sharing all my love towards the sweet little fans that got offended by her.. :< ♥️

It’s crazy to me that she decided to post a apology on instagram where most of her fanbase isn’t at 💀💀

She’s done so much more than that “side profile joke”, she called Asian eyes “chingchong” eyes and insulted them, made multiple s🥚 offender jokes, and more. She’s always been problematic. These aren’t just jokes atp.

Dude it was so obvious the comment she did was because she didn't know
This drama made me realize how quickly people judge and jump in the hate wagon and how dramatic and hypocritical they can be

Before anything, let me give you the obligatory "I am a black person". If you are not, obviously her words did not hurt you on a personal level. Her "apology" SHOULDN'T be towards you, but it is because she's self preserving.

She literally just went "it was all a joke". Her apology is a false-apology aimed at the kids that never thought she did anything wrong. This is not admirable, this is pathetic. I feel sorry for you little ones as I used to be a gullible little kid on the internet too. But it is a cop out. She doesn't even care about the people who will not forgive her for this, making the whole statement meaningless.

She is also a liar as she specifically made jokes about racial features on black people and I've yet to see her do it to, say, a drawing of a white person. I believe one of the offending clips was her criticizing a drawing that was not by a fan, she lied.

Go ahead and delete my comment if you're not feeling it, no hard feelings.

The sad part it people look up to her ( not me I stopped watching her long before the controversy ) even people of color watch her and if she learned how to draw people of color it would help her audience a lot (white artist could learn how to draw black and other people of color & black and people of color could learn how to draw themselves and people that look like them)

I also hope she moves the apology or makes a better one on YouTube so more of her fans can see it

Kooleen didn’t intentionally mean to hurt someone, when she posts a video with title “FIXING YOUR UGLY ART” which is always clickbait, she dosent really mean it’s ugly she just draws it in her style and it matters that she apologized If your Christan you know your supposed to love and forgive everyone, she dosent mean to hurt peoples feelings or anything.

hi im a poc person
Sorry for my bad grammar btw.

i read through koolens apology multiple times and this is my personal opinion

i feel like her apology could've been better, when she said "i am aware that hat a lot of people are ill Continue to hate me after this and take my words out of context, but i am not making this apology for them. They are irrelevant" this felt like as if she wanted people to forgive her, yes people who pulled out clips out of context are irrelevant but just because someone doesnt want to forgive a persons apology it doesnt mean they are irrelevant.

I also want to post out that it was best if she pulled out all the actions shes done and try to make something on how shes gonna improve aftermath. Because although she doesn't know much on western media its good to acknowledge features you've never "fixed" or drawn before.

I also don't think its good to make your whole argument trying to defend yourself, because many has knew she wasnt trying to be racist. Some probably took her word for racism, but others just wanted to showcase her mistakes as an artist. Its good to hold someone accountable even if their purpose was different, its good to tell them "hey i know you didn't mean this but you've done this so please acknowledge it"

Personally, i don't think I can forgive her but I hope if something like this happens again she could make a much better apology. Since this one felt like she was trying to defend herself more than realize her actions

You know?? I once called a brazilian guy a monkey. And I didn’t know that was offensive at the moment. I called him that bc he has a lot of energy, and then I got grounded, ofc. But I didnt know. I seriously didn’t. And I wasn’t that little, but I didnt know. I just didnt. In school, everyone started calling me racist and all of my black friends stopped talking to me. But I didnt know. I didnt know. So the hate she’s recieving kinda hurts me in a personal way. What if she actually didn’t know?? Why are you just saying its an excuse?? What if she didnt know?? Cuz calling a black person a Gorilla/Monkey, is a western thing. What if she just doesn’t watch western stuff?? And you know who was the only person who didnt stop talking to me?? The brazilian guy… So please, stop it. Racism is bad, but not everything is racism. And if she in fact didnt know, she apologized. She said she didnt know, and that she would never do anything against a certain race. What else do you need?? Cuz that’s exactly what happened. She didnt mean to hurt anybody. And now the most important part. “But she said it was a joke, and it isnt”. Yeah, ofc its a serious matter. But honestly, if she just said “Hey… About my drama… I didnt mean to say that. I promise I would never discriminate like that. I didnt know that could be offensive. Im seriously so sorry”. What do you think people would say?? “Only five lines?? Fake apology”. And you know they would. So honestly, the pressure of justifying yourself in such a toxic enviroment is HUGE. We all would have done the same. So come on, forgive her. She didn’t mean to. She was doing a joke, which turned out to be racist, even though it wasnt her intention. That’s it. See how simple compared to the drama?? Such a simple explanation and yet everyone is so offended. She didnt mean to. Please, stop. Forgive her.

I love Kooleen.

Honestly, I think I'm pretty mature and I think the people who comment things like "She's toxic" or "She's racist and calls people with acne ugly" just don't know her well enough.

I don't mean on a personal level, because of course I don't know her personally either, but you can't be a fan of Kooleen and still take her insults to heart.

I mean, if you post your art with the "kooleen fix my art" tag or the "roast me" tag, you're literally asking to be criticized. If you didn't like what you heard, you can't slam her for roasting you. It was your decision and you could have been more wary of the consequences of posting that tag.

Kooleen, in my opinion, is really objective of what she calls "hot" or "pretty". When your friend comes to school with a face full of pimples all of a sudden or you see someone with a nose twice the normal size, do you really, deep down, think it looks good?

Just because you were taught that "beauty is subjective" and "everyone is beautiful"? Do you really feel like you want to stare at that person and absorb all their "beauty" and believe that the pimples look good?

No. Trust me, no one thinks that. It's normal for people to be more attracted to features that are similar to their own, since it seems orthodox. Yeah, some people could be fair-skinned and seriously think black people are beautiful too, or vice-versa, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

And when Kooleen says "The hair is piss-coloured" or "This is an ugly colour", yeah, that just means you couldn't choose your colours properly in the case of drawing to get followers.

Kooleen often uses references of pretty girls and hot guys. While I agree that everyone has their own tastes, that doesn't mean you can criticize other people for voicing their preferences. Like how people everywhere are talking about god and Jesus. Kooleen's just saying she likes fair-skinned people.

They always say if you don't like someone's videos, don't watch them. If you aren't the type who's intelligent enough to realize you shouldn't take her comments like "Don't draw yourself because you're ugly" personally, then you just aren't a suitable viewer for her channels. If you see her video just scroll past it, don't watch it just to get hurt.

I am also the type who often uses sarcasm like this, and many of the fans of her channels probably are too. We vibe with Kooleen because it's pretty obvious she isn't saying "your art is shit" to purposely hurt you. She says that because it's entertaining.

I know right now I'm just making it sound like she's the evil mean type who just does hurtful things to entertain herself and her other mean followers, but I really don't think this is the case. I believe that Kooleen is just using a bit too much sarcastic humour.

All-in-all, Kooleen didn't really deserve this, in my opinion. And also, I spell colour with a "u" because I'm from Singapore, so don't try to correct me.

Lastly, this is coming from a teenager who isn't even past age of consent, so I think I can prove how some people are really just too close-minded and "too used to stereotypes" that they immediately think she's racist or just out to hurt other artists. Instead of being too hasty in criticizing her for her comments, you should have thought about this longer.

Thanks for reading this, see you.

I mean, at the very least. An apology was sent. Not everyone will or can be content, thats just not something that will ever happen for humans. I feel as though we became more sensitive but its kind of more of my opinion than anything else, but satisfied or not, dont send hate to anyone. Just stop watching their content or idfk gatekeep the jokes if they go too far. An apology was made and not everyone will be satisfied as i say, but atleast we got one. Thats better than 99% of people and some points were valid ig. All im saying is that "ching chong" and the "gorilla like" features were too far for people and thats fine. Everyone is different but at the end of the day, you do you. Just dont go too far with it. Hate is a strong double edged sword, dont go too far or you'll be consumed. Oh well

Remember If you aren’t black this apology wasn’t directed or for you so you shouldn’t accept-defend her

She should've stood up and made a video for an apology. First off, I get it with the Jaiden drama. She probably doesn't watch Jaiden or anything and didn't know about her being aroace and uncomfortable with being sexualized. But basing a "yassified" drawing of Jaiden and Odd1sout on their IRL looks and not their avatar. And this apology wasn't not really an apology of much. I liked how she took actual accountability, but it just doesn't feel right. She should've actually did it on youtube, or else 90% of her fanbase wouldn't see it.

I find it absolutely absurd that she made a apology on Instagram even tho she can reach a wider audience at here at YouTube.
