Georgia’s War on Reproductive Freedom Just Got Real

The Georgia State Capitol erupted in turmoil this week as lawmakers debated House Bill 441, a measure that would push the state into a new era of reproductive oppression. The bill proposes criminalizing abortion from the moment of fertilization, sending shockwaves through the medical community and civil rights advocates.

In a powerful plea, fertility specialist Dr. Karenne Fru urged lawmakers to consider the catastrophic consequences of this legislation. With her voice trembling, Dr. Fru warned that the bill would devastate her life's work and shatter the hopes of countless families relying on in vitro fertilization to build their futures.

Funny how concerned they are about children when they’re in the womb, but unconcerned about them when they’re in school!

The audacity of legislators with no understanding of science telling doctors how to practice medicine.

As a biologist, it’s really difficult to reason with people who do not understand science

If an embryo is a person, why cant I claim it as a dependent while Im pregnant? Why do I have to wait until after it is born to claim it on my taxes?
If an embryo is a child, why doesnt the man have to pay child support while the woman is still pregnant?
If an embryo is a child, why dont insurance companies cover it before date of birth?
If an embryo is a person, why cant I claim EIC while pregnant?
If an embryo is a person, why cant I get life insurance for it? Why doesnt life insurance companies pay death benefits for miscarriages?

“That single cell has the same rights as my children?”

No, they’re saying that single cell has MORE rights than your children.

For those not in the US, or not aware of these r legal system, the state of Georgia still has the death penalty. When she says this law would make her a serial killer and that she would have died, that wasn't a metaphor. She's saying that if this bill became law, the realities of fertility treatments and IVF would literally make her a serial killer because not all fertilized eggs survive. She's saying that this bill could result in fertility doctors facing the death penalty if they continued to practice in the state of Georgia.

If I die, you can't take my organs to donate without my consent. Not even if those organs could save someone else's life. And you must obey my will for what to do with my body. In that situation, my bodily autonomy legally has to be respected. You cannot force your agenda on my corpse.

How is it that I would get more bodily autonomy as a corpse than I do as a living, breathing woman?

Men with no knowledge on this subject should not be making these kinds of decisions.

His response is so dismissive and disrespectful. Absolutely no concern, compassion or care in his voice. It's like he didn't hear a word she said. Humans can be so horrible. I want to hug this doctor and thank her. This bill is insane.

So Georgia has wellspoken passionate women like this, and still they elected MTG.

It is absolute insanity that a doctor, an educated person who made their life on this topic, can be told what is scientifically true or false; but those who do not have the knowledge or understanding to back up their claims can send out rulings for the general public. How selfish can some people be, that they think that their beliefs should be shared and forced onto others. This is America, let us truly be free from tyranny.

The people who believe a fetus is equal to a fully developed human are the same people who would get a human fetus confused with a dolphin fetus.

If they make these stupid laws women in those states need to stand up and demand back child support for the 9-10 months before birth see how quickly men will change their tune.

If life begins at fertilization, why can't women get LIFE insurance for their fetus?

If these law makers were at a fertility clinic and there was a fire, and they had a choice to save 100 fertilized eggs or a toddler, they'd choose the toddler 100/100 times.

IT'S SAD that she's the only logical and smartest person in that room. Well done to her. Sadly, the Orange man you elected is threatened by smart people.
