This video was very helpful! I use an external drive for my time machine backups. When reading on of the comments below, I thought that i would not try this because I use an external drive. But, instead I followed my first mind and I love the results! I had 12 time machine backups on my computer. I don't know why or how as I have been plugging in my external drive for the backup but it seems to default to my computer. Now my entire "other" section has been deleted! Thank you for the video Royal Tech!!

Lots of thanks!

From 80GBs down to 33GBs, and it took me just 5 minutes to do it!

For those running the new beta, the filesystem has changed. MacOS Catalina now uses system and user data volumes that are separate. The new volume is mounted at /System/Volumes/Data.
As local snapshots may be located in that volume, run:

tmutil listlocalsnapshots /

before you try this check you main hdd folder, any files/folders here are also marked as 'system' storage. Perhaps you dropped some big file into it

HEY! I've been looking around everywhere for an answer, as I have a 2008 Mac Pro 5, 1 that is a temperamental little demon when it comes to system space. (500+ gb of "system files, Jeez!) What worked for me was going to System Preferences > Sharing > Content Caching > Options > and then Drag the Cache Size down to a lower number, and restart the Mac. took about 100gb of "system files" off the "Storage" of my baby! Good luck y'all, hope this works for you too.

I followed your steps in the video above exactly and whilst terminal showed all 7 time machine backups were deleted it changed nothing in my storage space! Re booted and also waited and re started mac the next day and still the same!!! I'm running High Sierra.

There are a few factors in Mac speed ups. One resource I found which successfully combines these is the Achak speed plan (check it out on google) without a doubt the most useful treatment that I have ever seen.look at all the interesting info .
