And in the 90s and early 2000s, they were dirt cheap compared to today. I paid $300 for mine in 1998. Still have it. Never dreamed it would be worth more than what I paid back when I got it. Didn't care either. It was my teenage dream synth from the early 80s. I got lucky finding it and I wasn't the first to look at it. Guy had even cropped the price because nobody wanted it. Have times changed!!

My pal bought one for $350 back in 96. We loved patch 36..little rim trigger on the 707 to get things going.
A deep beast..

This synthesizer is so rare, I had to rebuild it. Myself.
In fact, it's unique! LOL

It's so classic it's sound is basically synonymous with "mid eighties synth"

Folks, the prices for vintage gear are getting way out of hand! Also driven by the music influencers. Come on, the Jupiter 8 is nice, but quite limited and definitely not worth 35.000 bucks!

Repaired a couple of these beasts. Lovely 1980's electronics to work on.

I know a guy here in Berlin who has 2 Jupiter 8's . I could not believe it myself...

Tangerine Dream had this used a lot in the 80's - Chris Franke says he advised Roland on the features too.

Back in the 80s, I put red electrical tape on my Pro One to give it a J8 look.

Bought my first in 2001 for £1200. A very creamy, dark sounding 12 bit version. Then abit later I got a 14 bit which was alot brighter sounding for £3000. Ultimately I sold them both because I could not afford to maintain them. Cost more to service than a car back then. Beautiful sounding synth...but you not for the faint hearted and you need very deep pockets to repair.

I bought a Pop keyboard, probably for 100 dollars at K-Mart. It sounded better than some of the keybords in a music store that I used to go to in Miami, about 40 years ago.

I have found them selling for $10, 000 to $15, 000 in NYC in absolute mint condition. $35, 000, it better come signed by a famous producer who unused it on a hit in the 80s. I recently found a mint Yamaha CS-80 for $50, 000 near me.

I got that in my cracked omnisphere 2 that I paid $0 for.

Closest I'll get is the TAL J8, but I love it.
