Matt a little trick with hole saws when increasing the size of an existing hole take the closest size saw that fits in the existing hole and insert it in the needed size hole saw on the same mandrel. It will use the small saw as the pilot...

A trick i learned on a farm. A worker got his fingers cut off. Another worker took a roll of electrical tape and a shop rag. He cut the shop rag into quarters, rolled up one quarter that he laid lengthwise on the wrist, palm side. Took another quarter rag and wrapped it around the wrist. The electric tape was wrapped tight by overlapping. Stopped blood flow. He put the fingers in a thermos with ice. It took less than 3 minutes. Drove 15 .miles to the hospital. This saved his fingers that they sewed back on.

The wisdom of Matt is something we could all learn from. He's never building a car or a truck or a buggy. He's always building a team. Shows in the baja racing plan. Hasn't started on the actual car but already working on the team.

For the spud truck:
Use the stock fuel tank location for a fresh water tank. Spray off the dogs, customer cars, the truck, whatever you want. Drink it! Stay hydrated! Y'all are awesome. Keep it up.

I was lucky enough to stay in Hurricane this past week. We stopped by the shop, I got a shirt and also got to take some pictures of the vehicles. Best part is I got to pet "Peanut!" What a sweet girl she is! Gift shop girl was really nice too! Thanks to the guy that told me I could actually walk-in and check the place out too, instead of being a creeper and checking everything out from the fence, lol. What a treat that area of the US is. I hope to be back sooner rather than later! Thank you guys!!!!

Kolby must be one humble guy. He appears to be an extremely capable driver (rock and otherwise), yet he seems content behind the camera. Impressive!

I’ve been a Landcruiser owner for 46 years, and love it, but it’s your Cruiser so do whatever you want to it. I’m not in agreement with the purists sometimes. Sure it’s nice to restore, but customization certainly has its place also. My FJ-40 has been modified with a fiberglass replacement body. Therefore, the restoration purists hate me. So what! Best thing I’ve ever done for that Landcruiser.

I would like to suggest that when you get to the off-road/wrecker games, when you edit the footage together that you release some of it, maybe specific events, in more easily digestible chunks. I watched the first year but when the second year came the videos were simple too big for me to get into. Might be fine to do the full format videos as well but would be nice to have a 15/20 mins video of just the jalopy jeep event, for example.

As someone who’s raced Baja for the last 12 years I’m glad you’re just going to build a new Prerunner from scratch. The guys who bring out their cheap buggies don’t fare well. I don’t think most people realize how brutal it is down there.

Ed chuckling to himself at 12:47 in response to 332k miles was hilarious :D We have the same reservations, Ed!

In my offroad experience “Go and have fun” and “Bring it back in one piece” are mutually exclusive.

That poor land cruiser. Don't chop it up 😢 that hurts my heart. I don't like seeing the XJs get chopped either but.

I did something like what you did stradling shelves in a warehouse I worked in. My shoes had cleated treads, got hooked on the shelf rail when trying to turn and fell on my tailbone. Fractured my tailbone and compressed two lower vertebrae. I was just a kid and it still bothers me many decades later. Be careful

Hey Matt, little tip for using a hole saw when there is already a hole there. Grab a piece of scrap plywood or whatever, hole saw the size you want to use through the plywood then clamp/bolt/super glue to masking tape that template you just made wherever you want the new hole. The wood will hold the hole saw from jumping around since you dont have the material there to hold the pilot drill in the hole saw. Hope that makes sense.

9:47 you can often put a smaller hole saw inside of the larger one to keep the larger one centered and make the drilling easier

I really enjoy watching Matt's Off-road Recovery." The wife and I binge watch it regularly.
It takes me back to my younger days of four wheelin in the Arizona back country.
The show is very well produced. It's hard to believe it isn't produced by a professional production company. I know it's not considered a "reality show, " but it's similar, and I think it puts Hollywood produced shows to shame. If you're into off-roading and/or building vehicles, this is a great channel.
Matt does some things different than I would, but he gets it done.
The content is interesting, and the entire cast seems to be a group of genuinely decent people.
Go to the channel for the off-roading and mechanical stuff, but pay attention to the family dynamic.
I my opinion, Matt and Jeanie are doing an incredible job of raising a family of polite, respectful, hard-working, and talented boys. That in all likelihood will go on to be productive, contributing members of society. That's not an easy task these days.
Remember West Coast Choppers? The motorcycles were cool, and the process of building them was interesting, but who wants to watch a father and son scream, yell, and throw things like they hate each other?
Great job, guys!
I'm looking forward to future episodes.

When I have had to enlarge a hole with a hole saw, I have welded a washer or a piece of metal in the center so that I could use the pilot bit and not struggle keeping it centered. I also replace the pilot bit with a quarter inch rod at times so it doesn't enlarge the pilot hole.

@27:08 Matts team... guys please install a passenger "oh my god" handle for the passengers have a safe spot to hold, this is especially needed in the unfortunate event of a rollover, tell passengers hold on to that for dear life to keep your arms and hands safe if it rolls.
