Its advised not to use the powder often AT ALL because its abraisive and will damage the polish of the sword. Also, oiling is great if you plan to store the blade for a period of time, but if you use it quite often wiping it down with a clean dry cloth will prevent rust.

You can use a wet tissue and then dry tissue or something as your steel doesn’t contain enough carbon to rust without a proper clean and oiling.
