The History of Guitar Tablature (Luis Milan Pavane 3)

Показать описание
Skip to the music if you'd like: 8:47
This video is about the history of guitar tablature and it also features a recording of mine along with a representation of what the actual tablature would of looked like back then.
My original idea was to just upload the recording but I thought it would be interesting to give some historical context and to have the music "scroll" like in a music software program. I hope you enjoy it!
Some things I forgot to mention:
1. I use a capo to mimic the tuning a vihuela more accurately (it was smaller than a modern guitar). So the numbers from the tablature are actually +3 on every number or one can think the open string with the capo is then "0".
2. I don't always follow the frets exactly, I have my own arrangement.
3. I do melismatic (ornamental notes) cadences that aren't in the original tablature
4. Luis Milan was in the Spanish Valencia court.
5. Luis Milan was the first composer to have tempo indications like "allegro", "largo", etc...
