So many great bands from that era that 99% of people have no clue about. I found a VHS of HYPE! at a dollar store back in the 90s when I was probably 9 years old, lol. To say it influenced me is an understatement.

I want to thank Sub Pop for putting this out. Old U-Men fan here. I followed the band and saw many of their shows. I knew all of their released songs backwards and forwards, and I danced wildly to them at their shows back in the day. But there were always things in their set-lists that I did not recognize, so I was not surprised to see three songs added between the first and second EP.

I bought the single BLIGHT because of the cover...just looked cool...at a record store next to the Everett Mall - I think this was maybe '84. FLOWERS DGIH was the flip side. The opening riff of BLIGHT hooked me.

RE: U-Men set-lists. I checked an online list of U-Men shows to see how many of them I could remember being at. I noticed that there were no set-lists posted for any of them. Being a huge fan, I should have written down their set-lists back in the day, but I didn't. I was teen then and always too excited to see my favorite band to bother with that kind of stuff. I was there to dance and rock out. But I wonder, did anyone note the set-lists? Is there a source for them? Also, I wonder if the band (or management) kept any tapes of live shows? If they did, I'm sure they'd be a little embarrassed today to release them. They were young and likely played worse than they would have liked to in hindsight. All artists hear their own mistakes best. But I can assure you, it all sounded great to the fans! If they kept tapes, maybe they could at least edit the best parts into a short live live album that could act as a kind of stand-in for folks who never saw them, and as a reminder for those of us who did. They were a great band. It matters not that they grew as musicians or are prouder of later bands/musical efforts (if that's the case). They fucking rocked. Nothing to be ashamed of there.

I know that Green River's Come On Down E.P. is considered the first grunge album ever released, but knowing that this band released their self-titled E.P. just a year before Come On Down, isn't that considered the first grunge album or is it just post-punk?
