Michelangelo's Fresco Technique.

Michelangelo’s fresco technique, buon fresco, involved painting onto fresh lime plaster so pigments fused as it dried. He transferred drawings (cartoons) using charcoal dust or incised lines. Working in giornate (daily sections), he applied mineral pigments mixed with water, layering shadows and highlights rapidly before the plaster set. Some details were later refined with fresco secco on dry plaster.
