🍁 Off-Grid in 30 Days - Building an off-grid home for less than $25k
🏕️ Episode 1: Canvas Tent, Clearing Brush, & Ordering the Cabin Shell
💧 Episode 2: Solar Panel, Water Pumps, IBC Water Totes, Composting Toilet, Methane Digester

Welcome to our 30 day off-grid build for October of 2023! We’re assembling sustainable, affordable, off-grid systems to provide for the 5 basic physiological needs for 2-4 humans: Creative shelter, fresh water, green sanitation, clean energy, and local food are things that make the world truly better and more enjoyable. Beyond having fun building all of this and sharing it with you, one big goal for this project is to clearly illustrate how creative & sustainable solutions can solve our housing affordability crisis and free young people to avoid working paycheck to paycheck to survive in our modern economy. We need a fresh vision for living well! Many people are seeking a closer connection to nature, a slower pace of life, an affordable lifestyle, a sustainable lifestyle, and freedom from being indentured to our modern economic system. Mostly though, we just love building off-grid systems!

In episode 2 we're setting up the 400W solar panel, water pumps, IBC water tanks, composting toilet and the methane digester!

Big Thanks to Our Partners in off-grid living:

We’re proud to to have partnerships and sponsorships with these innovative companies. We only use and promote products we truly believe in for off-grid living. These tools allow us to live more sustainably and affordably.

We want to reclaim our time, our health, and finances, and a sense of peace. We want to help you and millions of others do the same. This takes designing our lives to be more local, more sustainable, more affordable and generally more off-grid. We want to swim out of the mainstream, we want to opt-out, slow down, to live more simply and locally. We want to educate as many people as we can about this affordable and sustainable lifestyle of living well with decentralized, off-grid systems.

Nothing beats hands on experience, but for many, these ideas and practices may be first best introduced through a video game medium. That is why we are creating HomeFree! Follow this kickstarter project to help it come to life! 🕹️ 🧑‍🌾

You definitely need to make these videos around 40-60 minutes long. I believe it'll pull around 300-600k views. Just wait a few days until you guys keep this series going.

Love these series. Can't wait for more episodes. I guess the hidden cost is all the tools you guys already have. Could you show how much they cost to buy/ to rent? Thanks

The game has built-in affiliate links to the product you can buy IRL...GENIUS!

Fucking love this series. One thing that would be cool is if you could talk about possible solutions when there is no power. For example you can pump water without electricity by priming the hose. This can even pull water up hills that are not extremely steep.

My 16 yr old son uses his electric push mower to harvest fodder for his pigs when we cant move the pig tractors. We LOVE it! (Theres also a way to capture the energy from that fire as well! I have a BioLite rocket stove that charges my phone so im wondering if thats scalable?!)

Have you ever considered siphoning your water from your water tanks. If you set your water tanks on a shelf higher than your methane digester before you draw water from the pond, you can use a siphon technique to fill all your watering needs. In fact, I’m currently at my deer camp using the siphon method to draw water from two 55-60 gallon plastic food grade barrels. When not in use I simply tie the pouring end above the top of my barrels. In order to start drawing water now, I simply lower the end below the level of the water in the barrel. I left my barrels in a trailer that carried my other camping gear as well.
