Plastic resin code number 2 represents high-density polyethylene, or HDPE. This type of plastic is commonly used for milk jugs, detergent bottles, and some food containers. HDPE is considered safe for food storage and packaging.
Plastic resin code number 3 represents polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. PVC is used in a wide range of products, including pipes, flooring, and some food packaging. However, it's important to note that PVC is not considered safe for food storage or cooking.
Plastic resin code number 4 represents low-density polyethylene, or LDPE. LDPE is commonly used for plastic bags, shrink wraps, and some food packaging. It is generally considered safe for food contact.
Plastic resin code number 5 represents polypropylene, or PP. PP is widely used for food containers, yogurt cups, and reusable food storage containers. It is considered safe for food storage and microwave use.
Plastic resin code number 6 represents polystyrene, or PS. PS is used for foam cups, takeout containers, and packaging materials. However, it is not considered safe for food storage or microwave use, as it can leach potentially harmful chemicals.
Plastic resin code number 7 represents other plastics that do not fall under the previous six categories. This category includes polycarbonate (PC), which is used in some baby bottles and reusable water bottles.
