Why Do We Have An Appendix?

What does the appendix do? What is the appendix for? These are very common questions that we did not have answers to until just a few years ago. More research has been done on this little organ attached to the cecum in the large intestine, and how it may play a role in the lymphatic immune system and immune health. It may also have a connection to gut health and the gut microbiome (or the gut microbiota) – which has probiotic bacteria, which are good bacteria that keep a healthy immune system among many other benefits. In this video, I will go more in-depth about the research findings, what they mean, and how it may help with infections, such as C difficile, and how there may be measures for appendicitis prevention.
