I Have a Question and An Upcycling Slide Show

Oh, what to do with all my stuff! I have an abundance of upcycling creations. I stopped selling online about three years ago and focused on making upcycling clothing diy videos. Now it's time to thin out my inventory. I've narrowed it down to either having an open house (in my basement) once or twice a year or hauling all my things to a vendor market once a year. I'm taking a littlie poll to see if anyone would come here to East Dubuque, IL.

What would be really amazing would be a upcycling weekend retreat with you. Oh my goodness, I would love to spend a weekend with a lot of people just upcycling! Can you imagine the knowledge we could all share

Heres a thought. How about doing small fashion shows here on your channel & sell here since so many live out of the area. I used to watch two different hand made jewelry makers do this. They would number the items with the price, so there was no confusion which item or how much it was. They communicated thru email & used PayPal & everyone pays their own shipping. Then you could avoid the chaos & expense of a Vendor Market, or the red tape of online Sales Sites, & germs from strangers in your home.

That would be so cool! But, for your own safety and privacy, I would suggest having it at a venue.

Funny that you brought this up I watch your videos all the time and think, "wouldn't it be fun to just sit and collaborate with Traci". YOU are the reason I have started making upcycled clothing (mostly for myself thus far) AND have a mountain of stuff to work on, figure out, finish or actually "get started on". Thank you for all the inspiration! Cindy in Missouri

I hope you find a way to get new homes for your creations. As so many have said, I'd come in a heartbeat if I lived closer to you. I appreciate you and your channel beyond words. You have been such an inspiration to so many!!

I live in California, so I probably wouldn't be able to attend an open house. But, if you decided to sell online or even just on YouTube here or Poshmark or whatever, I would be the first in line. I'm in awe of all your creations.

I'm in Minnesota, but I love road trips, so if the timing was right, I'd definitely take a trip to your studio. I can't think of a more fun venue to visit!

I would so love to visit you. However, I am larger and wouldn’t be able to wear the sizes you have. That said I would also love to meet you and see all you have for inspiration. I would need to travel since I live in Missouri but what a fun trip it would be. The suggestion to sell here is a great one. I think that might work out very well for you as well. Love you and all you do. Thanks for the inspiration and confidence you’ve given me.

It’s over an 8 hour drive for me. The quilt shop where I used to live in Oregon does an online live sale where the items are numbered and people comment to purchase items, purchaser pays for shipping, and things sell well. It is called My Quilting Loft, if you want to check out their sale style. I would most definitely jump on to a live sale like that for your upcycles, and I bet many other commenters here would love to do the same!

I used to sell in a vender booth. They took care of the taxes & all sales for a small percentage + a hefty monthly fee. The big issue was that customers expected big discounts. I did well during tax season with vintage clothes & housewares, then after that, every month was a loss. Oh and this was in a nicer affluent area. Maybe you would do better, if everyone knew you were there. You have to promote yourself & if you can get a prime booth spot closer to the door, that also helps, which i had. I did more sales when I advertised on FB Marketplace. Also, we had a couple of shoplifters on small items. Idk Tracey, i say utilize your channel for advertising & saleshere & skip those middlemen avenues. You have a following here. This is my 2 cents. Best wishes!

I most definitely would, if I lived in the same country. I'm in Canada!!!😔....for now it's watching you create on YouTube. 🥰❤

I’d do a “what not” style show and let people bid on the items. They are that good. You could garner some good profit on your beautiful pieces.

I would love to, however I live in Ct. Love your show, love your creations. And I gotta tell you… I find your Voice so calming ( not boring) sometimes I watch in the evening and fall asleep.😂. I will rewatch, when I’m wide awake.

Time to hit the road maybe? An old fashioned medicine show/trunk sale in the Spring? I worked for a County Arts Council at one time and we would sponsor 'Wearable Art Shows' that focused on women who created wearable art. Your creations are definitely qualified as art pieces. One of a kind and gaining in popularity. I envy that you have an abundance of inventory - mine is growing but it takes much time and energy and when I see what you do I already feel like I'll never make it to that degree but I love the process! I like your idea but agree with the safety/privacy aspect. So, I'm thinking you have a few options. There may be an organization for you, locally, that sponsors yearly events that you could participate in. They would lead by securing a location and advertising the event - you would pay a 'vendor fee' and have space to accommodate your wares. Some Parks & Recreation Departments will reasonably rent spaces like event halls. Most towns and cities have public meeting spaces available for booking. Churches might be inspired to lend you some space. I think you could find volunteers to assist you in setting up/taking down. Someone 'tech savvy' would be helpful for online sales. My best advice would be for you to Keep It Simple so you can enjoy yourself! Girl Trips are gaining in popularity so once you make your decisions on location and date....Advertise! Best to You!
