This guy is a lot more good faith than almost all other people Destiny has talked to

It was an honor to have you on the channel Steven! Let’s do it again sometime.

Debates like this are good in maintaining a little faith that there are still grounded people discussing this stuff.

Holy shit, I forgot debates could actually be informative

One of the best moments for me was hearing them discuss war for a moment and then the guy saying I have nothing to contribute. I'm a tax guy.

Major props to people who make public statements and willingly admit that they don't know something and wish not to comment further.

Barely any drama in this one… and I loved it.

Proof that lil D can have a respectful and productive conversation when he isn’t positioned against Facebook rotted conspiracy theorists.

Shoutout to Wheelwright!

I like this guy, because he argues in good faith, regardless of his policies. What would be great is another conversation with him a year from now after the election

I'm only halfway through but I really appreciate that this guy seems to be genuinely listening to what Destiny says, acknowledging when Destiny says something he agrees with or makes a point he didn't bring up etc. I'm not trying to "it's so great two people can have disagreements and be so polite!", it's not just being polite it feels like an actual conversation/engagement

It was interesting that multiple times this guy would be skeptical, disagree based on his position if expertise, but when destiny breaks it down he actually agrees.

I am glad you found someone to finally talk about taxes with.

As a CFO, I was a bit surprised by him not understanding your point of higher taxes stimulating businesses to spend more vs save it up. That is accurate and this man is more qualified than I via his CPA/experience.

I’ve argued this point to my CEO on numerous occasions for various costs. The company I work for is a partnership where the CEO is the major owner. His regular salary and distributions exceed a million dollars in California. So his effective tax rate is around 40%.

When I have argued things like a year-end holiday party, bonuses for employees, upgrading hardware, adding to the break room; all of those items above for some examples are straight forward write-offs (the exception is the 7.65% ER tax on bonuses), but a $30, 000 cost on a holiday party is only $18, 000 because he would have taken home $18, 000 after taxes. So he gets a $30k experience for only $18k.
To your point, if taxes were 95% a business/individual would want to spend every single dollar to write things off because they would want to use it instead of give it to the government. If you have low taxes, there is more incentive to just take it out and buy personal items during good years.

I do agree with him that fully expensing items is better in 95% of circumstances as opposed to depreciating them over the long haul. My weakness would be utilizing the corporate tax rate as I dislike the idea of double taxation, which is what it leads to, but obviously in periods of growth and dealing with loan payments, there are advantages in the long term.

It was a different chat, but I do have a different viewpoint than you on loans. I agree with you about taking a loan for expanding your business and using debt to grow faster; however, getting zero debt and growing with capital can be a comfortable low risk strategy which is easy to monitor for each month instead of worrying about paying others. Debt such as bills is fine, but interest charging services are a waste if you can avoid them, but an excellent tool if you can beat the rate.

Wow, an actual debate where both sides are trying to get to the substance with good faith argumentation and no empty rhetoric. Unbelievable

12:19 The problem is they don’t invest the tax savings. They raise executive salaries and buy back stock.
