Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump on Climate Change

Before it's even begun, the race for the White House has made headlines - from the attempt on Donald Trump's life, to Joe Biden suddenly quitting the race, and Kamala Harris stepping up to take his place. But what could this race for Presidency mean for our planet? How could the next President of the United States affect climate change? Fortunately we can look at Harris and Trump's records to find out - both have acted (for better or worse) many times in their careers on climate change.

Huge thanks to Miriam Nielsen @zentouro for her invaluable American input on this video

America’s climate policy affects the World, so who they elect as the next president affects the world. We outside the USA don’t have a vote but we have a right to express an opinion on matters that affect us. There’s no need to hold back from saying how they should vote. They need to vote for Harris, for their own sake and ours. A vote for Trump will do far more than just destroy the US.

I don't want Europe to be left alone against climate crisis and Russia.

You are a brave soul indeed, Adam. It’s refreshing to see someone stand on principle and not apologize for it. I pray you don’t lose too many subscribers, and don’t sweat the ones that leave. We need you to stay in this fight please 🙏

My gratitude for your insightful video on how the Presidential candidates stand on climate change. Your breakdown of Harris and Trump's records was incredibly enlightening and has helped me better understand their positions. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping to keep us informed on such a crucial issue.

Thank you for making this video. It’s so so important to talk about this. I often hear from very privileged individuals that who becomes our president will never actually significantly impact any of us, but the climate crisis will have a huge effect on the quality of all of our futures. Another Trump presidency and the implementation of project 2025 would be lethal.

we are not powerless, I have added solar panels and ditched combustion cars and gas heating. Our financial choices succeed where our votes sometimes fail.

Undoing the centuries of harm to our planet is the most important thing for me. Everything else is important, but if we dont have a habitable planet, who cares about abortion, economy, or wars?

Thank you for talking about the U.S. Presidential election. I’m an American and will be voting for Harris. We need someone who takes global warming seriously and won’t try to abolish the EPA or NOAA.

As an American, the thing people sometimes don't appreciate is that a lot of this comes down to the makeup of Congress.

Kamala and most Dems would love to do more on climate change, but are limited by what Congress will pass and what the courts won't overturn. So, say, if Kamala wins and Republicans control Congress then don't expect much progress - not because of Kamala but because of the GOP.

Asking someone whether or not they "believe" in climate change is like asking someone whether or not they "believe" in 1+1=2. It's a fact, it makes no sense to "not believe" in it. So always ask if someone *understands* climate change. Because otherwise it implies that there would be a valid reason to not believe in it. Facts are not religion, you can understand or not understand them. But you cannot believe or not believe in them.

A fundamental problem with the USA and UK voting system is that it is first past the post. Here in Australia we have a preferential voting system which means if your first choice isn't elected, then your vote goes to your next allocation. This opens up candidates beyond the binary major parties, and prevents splitting the vote amongst progressive (or right wing) candidates. Along with proportional representation it means more citizens are enfranchised in parliamentary representation.

Global climate is devastated even with 1.5C. Global food security is severely stressed to breaking point. With the extreme heat and "heat domes", people are only concerned about humans well being but not too much is said about effect on nature, wildlife and our environment which sustain human life.
Old world monkeys in Mexico are dropping out of tree unconscious because of heat stroke/heat exhaustion and dying upon hitting the ground to whole colony of emperor penguin (around 500?) dying of heat stroke to global shortage of olive oil...

Let's not move the bar and say 2.0C. There will be global human unrest politically and military as the world will experience massive global climate refuge on the move to more habitable parts of the world.

You neglected to mention The independent candidate RFKJr., he has been a true defender of our environment for decades and has a reasonable stand to climate change.
Perhaps you are not aware of this, but if you are please include him in a future report.
Thank you, this was very informative.😊

This very informative video is so important because neither campaign is talking about climate. Everyone already knows Trump's position on climate but Harris' position and accomplishments are not widely known.
Thanks for the great work!
She has my vote!

The U.S. has to change their way of travelling by creating a workable public transport system so the public don't have the need for a car, chop air-travel for pleasure to a minimum, reduce production of throw away items, heavily tax all corporations, cease exporting basically useless manufactured garbage and live a simple life devoid of all the stuff you don't need but only want. Can't see it happening in the time I have left but can only hope that this involves all of us. The multi-national corporations feed off those who buy what they produce so stop buying the crap they make and they may become more responsible but doubt it. 8+ billion humans all striving for a better, easier live just isn't possible.

I’m glad you brought up Project 2025. It’s important to know that it’s not just these two candidates that matter, but any potential candidate for the presidency as well as the senators and representatives we send to Congress will broadly support the positions of their party both on climate change and a wide range of other issues.

I’d also like to point out that Project 2025 is only the latest iteration of the Heritage Foundation’s “Mandate for Leadership” which is the policy positions they have been pushing through via conservative politicians since the early 1980’s. They’ve been playing the long game to retain power.
