I absolutely love the contradictory nature of this song, it’s both meaningful and meaningless at the same time. Like the chorus itself is just random intentionally, but the bridge describes the struggle song writers deal with for a hit, and the process of throwing verses out there hoping to find some direction or profoundness in what you’re saying. Also I like that the listening to the song itself actually puts you in the mindset of how they must have felt struggling to write a song, because initially we hear the chorus, and immediately look for meaning in it, just as they tried to write words on the page hoping for meaning. Anyways it’s really cool how the song is kind of an oxymoron regarding the meaningful meaningless lol.

One thing I noticed while listening to the song that I really liked is how the lyrics get more blunt as they go on. For instance, "When you try to find some meaning in your life before you're gone" changes to "When you try to find some meaning in your life before you die" and "Here's a song that don't mean anything at all" changes to "Here's a bunch of random shit to waste your time". Idk I think it was intentional

The way they move us in such a way is mind blowing, the way I switched emotions going from sad to happy to freaking inspired thanks to the genius Ryan who managed to make this piece of ART and I really mean that. Also to Jack how well his vocals reflect on the song itself is insane. And this song with the best switch😅. Boys and girls, it really doesn’t get much better then this, AJR, we love you ❤
