Guggenheim Museum in NY | July 2024 | Jenny Holzer

Показать описание
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, a Frank Lloyd Wright architectural masterpiece, opened its doors in 5th Avenue, New York, in 1959. Committed to advancing the appreciation for modern and contemporary art, it has expanded its global reach with additional locations in Spain and Italy, and a forthcoming venue in the UAE.
In “Light Line,” Jenny Holzer's mastery of text-based art is evident through her innovative LED installations that combine light and sound. Her vibrant Inflammatory Essays posters are also featured in collaboration with Lee Quiñones, who has graffitied the museum walls with words drawn from conflict zones.
Her exhibition ingeniously harmonizes Guggenheim’s iconic spiral architecture with the luminous LED signs, and some of the reflective surfaces of other works on the upper floors provides a renewed perspective. Finally, upon reaching the very top, a single golden painting on the wall bearing the word "Thanks," in small letters was a charming element that added a memorable touch at the end.
Another exhibition, available until January 12, 2025, presents a curated selection of works from Guggenheim's permanent collection influenced by the D.Daskalopoulos Collection Gift, while the museum continues to display the Thannhauser Collection, showcasing Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works since its acquisition.
