Garmin 45 Forerunner Watch GPS Very Slow Wait for Signal Connection- How to Fix CPE Expired (35/235)

preview_player
Показать описание
My Garmin 45 GPS watch has been very slow to get GPS signal, sometimes taking in excess of 30 minutes to be ready. On closer inspection it appears that the CPE file on the watch had been marked as expired meaning the watch was waiting to check satellite locations rather than using the file to determine locations. Sync with the Garmin Connect application on my phone made no difference but once I'd connected to the Express app on laptop the CPE file was shown as current and the GPS signal was picked up very quickly again. Although this shows the Garmin 45 watch the same process should work for others like the 35/235 etc

Life saver! Hunted for info and kept getting the same baloney fixes that didn't work. Thanks for a great video that's saved me giving up on my watch!

Thanks! I just recently purchased Garmin 6X Pro Solar and realised about in a week that it started to take longer to find the GPS than straight from the box. I synced with Garmin Connect app in the phone multiple times but that didn’t seem to make any difference to GPS issue. Found out, thanks to your vid, that CPE file was indeed expired. Quite odd that it requires USB cable and laptop to get it updated even though they say in their website that Garmin Connect is all you need.

Love my Garmin Forerunner 45. Mine is ready to roll in 15 seconds. When I'm out of town, for a 5K. I might have to wait a minute. I couldn't care less about music, maps, phone answering, or Heart Rate. All I care about is Pace / Distance. The 45 has the same GPS antenna as the Forerunner 945. It is perfectly accurate. Within two feet / mile.

My CPE says current, but I still don't acquire signal! Anyone else having this problem? Also after a factory reset

I've now finally fixed my Garmin forerunner 45. As mentioned in the video I was needing to connect to laptop every 5 days or so to fix the CPE expired error.
In the end I did a factory reset on the watch and that seems to have now resolved the problem
