Delightful! I've been looking forward to this vid ever since you teased it, haha. My personal favorite episode is "Camping, " I loved the beautiful simplicity of the characters' friendship, how they didn't need to speak the same language to form a meaningful connection, and how it dealt with the idea that sometimes we only have people in our lives for a short time, but we should still treasure them. I've always been impressed by how concise the storytelling is in Bluey, it takes some very tight writing to communicate the plot, theme, and such complex emotions all in one short episode. It's such a good example of how children's media is not--and should not--be nothing more than 'dumbed down' storytelling; when the adults behind the screen put in the time and effort, the result is something a whole family can enjoy. (Also, can we still hope for a full-length Mythopoeia video, too?)

For me it's Flatpack. Blending in three timelines across incredible timescales (in 7 mins) in a way that would give Chris Nolan a run for his money. Also the the idea that the afterlife is more substantial and more enduring than this world, is rarely seen in TV & movies.

Bluey is gold. My favorite Bluey episode is Army, closely followed by Cricket. I am an army brat who had a father a lot like the brief glimpses we get of Rusty's dad and Jack's story in Army is great. But, yeah there an absolute ton of incredible Bluey episodes, and even the ones that aren't people's favorites are extremely well crafted narratives.

“Sleepytime” is Bluey’s greatest episode. A child leaves her bed, travels the stars, returns. That’s the shape of the episode. But it’s also the shape of Christian belief. Life as exile. Return as home. Love as the centre of all.

There’s a warmth here beyond parental love. It’s divine. The mother tells Bingo, “I’ll always be with you.” A soft line, but it echoes scripture. “I am with you always, ” says Jesus in Matthew. No matter how far we stray—from sleep, from home, from God—we are held.

And there’s resurrection. Bingo falls. The music swells. She is caught. Carried back to bed. Back to warmth. Back to God.

“Sleepytime” is six minutes long. No sermon. No altar. Just stars, planets, the beautiful musical crescendo, a mother’s voice. And it leaves you hushed. Like only the best parables do.

Some of the christian responses to the episode Flatpack are very interesting, speaking about creation and subcreation (which has been discuss here as well!)

Thanks for reviewing a Bluey episode. It's about time! Could you please review 'The Sign'? It could be viewed as an episode of consummation where many 'bad things become untrue'.

Bluey appears to be very secular - yet at the same time, there are fairies, and the magic xylophones, feather-wands & asparagus seem to really work. Is it pagan? Or is the 'magic' that the parents (and even Lucky's Dad) play along with Bluey & Bingo's games beyond the capacity of human parents? What are your thoughts?

Nice! Fairytale and Cricket are wonderful, but something about sleepy time I don't like. In a season of kids waking me up at night.

Bluey is the first kids TV show that I've had FOMO over since my boys moved on from watching that kind of thing. I have often been tempted to watch an episode, but it feels wrong to watch a kids show when your own children are not interested any more.

I can't figure out whether "Movies" is making fun of the "just be yourself" trope or embracing it. I get the feeling it wants to have it's cake and eat it too. Some sort of meta-modern thing?

You are totally under an obligation to watch Bluey. Sorry but that’s how it is
