Installing Rim Tape on the 2018 Yamaha FJR1300

I put red rim tape on my 2019 V-strom 650 XT Touring, and it improves the look of the black rims.

Looks one heck of a lot nicer than the blacked out rims
for my taste, this is the way the nice rims come, factory,
don't have to add the aluminum strip.
Try the blue if you don't like this, the newer YZ250 and 450 Yamahas come
with blued rims they look great.

I think that for anyone installing a tape like this make sure the overlap
is actually 'underlapped' in the orientation of rotation. Just opposite of
what was done on the rear tires right side, that way it won't catch and peel
in the wind quite as readily.
Remember, this isn't something you look directly at and focus on, its
a accent, something that most styling incorporates into design.

is it reflective tape or just colored tape? I'll check it out but if it is reflective, it could be helpful. However, I prefer the black wheels and rims to the silver line.

Reflective might be the way to go...even spacing cutouts rather than one long continuous stripe. I may do that, cut smaller stripes and angle the end to a point...maybe three stripes per wheel, both sides with a space in between evenly spaced.

I agree the supplied tool works remarkably well. As for the silver it doesn't really work for me. I don't hate it or anything, it just doesn't get my mojo going.

The Silver does not work that well with the Phantom Blue...
It would be great if they make a Matt Blue that would work with your color...
My FJR is a RAVEN (Black/ Silver Trim and Silver Accents) versus yours that has Black Accents...
