'Journey to the Past: Exploring a Forgotten Castle'

The Castillo de la Asomada is an ancient fortification located near the village of El Palmar (Murcia, Region of Murcia, Spain). It is located on the top of the known hill of Puerto (532 meters) and is perfectly adapted to the top of the mountain. The castle is of rectangular shape and its walls are flanked by towers (three on each side) and turrets at the corners. The building was constructed around the 12th century during the time of maximum splendor of the Taifa de Murcia. It was intended as a strategic building for the control of space and communications between the coast and the interior. Although the building was never completed, the fortress was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1985.
