Before Shawn, no one can deliver a sweet superkick like Chris Adams.
RIP Chris. You truly are a gentleman in wrestling.

That is as the style according to the late Gary Hart. “If you wrestled in Texas… you were going to get a$$-whipping”

Chris was a legit judo champion and fighter. There is nothing Dutch would have ever done to Chris Adams. He was an unbelievably great heel with Gino in the mid 80's. He could have been a huge star (just like he was in WCCW) if he wouldn't have succumbed to his demons.

I was in Chris Adams’ wrestling school in the Summer of 1990. He was cool with me.

No one could do the superkick like chris adams. Shawn Michaels looked weak compared to his. Chris adams superkick was devastating. Which is why I always find it humorous that wwe fans always bring up people saying that wrestlers owe Shawn Michaels which on actuality all of them owe chris adams.

Chris was stiff in the ring due to being in Von Erich territory. He had to be rough as most of the Von boys worked real rough. Kevin would kick the crap out of you, and Kerry would throw potatoes, though he was messed up in ring during that time.

Many people I am glad to see realize Chris had a super kick that was lethal to say the least. His version was a true finisher compared to all those posers, HBK included, who ripped him off.
A sad way the final years of his life played out, as his demons got their pound of flesh from him. Hope he found solace on the other side. And while I like Dutch, Chris would have either stretched him or simply strangled him to death had he given a receipt.

world class was known to be very, very stiff. also, chris was a legit judo champion-- he'd have killed dutch if dutch would've pushed the issue

I remember as a kid watching my first match at the Sportatorium and most of them worked stiff. I met Chris Adams there, he was hanging out in the back area talking to Iceman King Parsons. They were both super nice to me and asked if I was enjoying it. They even took a picture with me and I still have it to this day. WCCW was not for the weak, if you couldn’t work stiff then you didn’t belong there.

i was a chris adams fan. watched "dallas wrestling" from about 1988 (i was seven) until about 1991(2?).

I saw the match he referred to; it was ugly. Adams was way stiff on Dutch. I’m not surprised he ended up being shot.

I don't think I've seen any of Chris Adam's matches from his time in the US, but I remember him well from his time wrestling in Britain before that. Very talented wrestler, with a background in several martial arts. Before wrestling he was a multiple British Judo champion and had also won international titles and been in the British Olympic Judo squad, though he did not take part in any matches. His younger brother, Neil, was even more successful at Judo, being a one time World champion, 5 time European champion and 2 time Olympic silver medallist.

I can only find two listings online where Dutch and Chris Adams wrestled in singles matches. Below is the 1st of those two matches and I suspect it's the match in question. The superkick to the stomach is at 5:58. Overall, yeah, Chris is a little stiff but I didn't see much out of the ordinary. As others have noted, World Class was stiffer than other territories and definitely stiffer than Memphis. I think Chris hard largely just adapted to the territory over the years and continued to work a relatively stiff style as a result. In particular, he had spent a good bit of time in '84 and '85 wrestling Kevin Von Erich and Kevin was pretty stiff. You basically had to just about fight Kevin to really get him to sell and to have a match with him. So, I don't think it had anything to do with Dutch or Chris not wanting to work with him or anything like that but is just how Chris and a decent percentage of the guys in World Class worked.
