Major World Record Speedrun Controversy

After runner lol869 posted their speedrun in Minecraft Bedrock RSG, many were amazed, but a few more suspicious members of the community began an investigation about the run, and they found some interesting things.

As mentioned in the short, this run was only rejected due to the resource pack that was used and the possibility of the associated exploit, not because it was confirmed as cheated. Do not spread hate related to this run or the runner, as like Bedrock speedrun mods have said, it was most likely not their intention for the tool to be used in this manner.

This is my first time covering a potentially fabricated Minecraft speedrun but I felt it was important as I covered the run back when it was still waiting to be verified over a week ago.

For people commenting: the main reason the run was rejected is because it was PROVED that you can inject a seed undetectably with lol869's resource pack

A lot of people seem to think they were rejected because the moderators were biased towards java and didn't want a bedrock run to be the world record, this is completely false, bedrock and java are completely separate categories and are in no way competing, bedrock has different moderators and bedrock has had the world record many times in the past, there is no reason to think there is bias and there is no reason for there to be bias at all

Unfortunate that the resource pack had suspicions and the seed they rolled was suspiciously good for it to be rejected, it could’ve been legit but the circumstances around it made it too unlikely.
Alas, the new rules will prevent things like this from happening again, so who knows, maybe lol could get another wr 👀

They added the run back to the leaderboards a couple months ago, lol is a clean runner with no past of cheating.

It kind of sucks that they rejected it based on what seems to be just circumstantial evidence.

Considering that players have been speedruning for years at this point, its just a matter of time until a skilled runner just happens onto one of the best seeds to run, like this seems to be.

They probably rejected it after a lot of time, and they had to give the result, without evidence but still being sus about it so they didnt ban but after that they might have kept looking and found how he cheated

You cant just say oh theres this exploit we found just to reject your run and its a rule now. Youd have to accept the run because you allowed the pack when the run was submitted you cant change rules mid consideration

I understand that resource packs do have some cheats, but they should test the resource pack to see if its really cheating or not

Bedrock speedruns cant be compared to java as bedrock has different elements such as no attack cooldown meaning you dont have to wait a sec to hit the dragon again
