I always say don't mistake my kindness for weakness.

Sometimes kindness isn’t the socially comfortable thing to do. Honesty can be kindness. Accountability can be kindness. Enforcing boundaries can be kindness. People don’t always have the correct perspective on what is actually kind.

I was just talking about this! I’m so sick of people telling others to “be nice” or “you should apologize to keep the peace” instead of holding the ACTUAL person causing the problem accountable.

Being kind and allowing yourself to be treated like a doormat are not the same. You can fully know your worth and still choose to be a kind person. Being kind brings me inner peace and I would argue that walking away from someone who mistreats me IS me advocating for myself.

When my 2 daughters got in highschool, I told them; I forbid you to attack any one, yet if some one attacks you. do so they won't want to do it. . .My second one had an issue with 3 guys, locking her in the man's wash room. . the first guy who openned the door laughing; got a solid punch on the nose. .We had a meeting with the director. . heard both sides. . . And told the director, take care of your crazy youngs males and they won't suffer, I was proud of my daughter. . and said it openly. . to all people there. . RESPECT and you'll be respecred. .

Kindness is a fruit of the spirit. That doesn't nean you let people walk all over you

Kindness is my strength, not my weakness. Kindness is what gives me the courage to tell the truth, to set boundaries and enforce them, to stop someone who is trying to take advantage of others. If your kindness is seen as a weakness then you're not actually kind, you're a rug. Get up, stop being walked on, and stand on what's right. You don't have to be mean or rude in the process.

This illustrates the confusion in our society regarding the difference between kindness and niceness. Kindness is deep. It leads the kind person to do what is right, and a truly kind person knows that kindness is sometimes harsh. Niceness, on the other hand, is surface level. It seeks to avoid conflict even when conflict is the right action to take. Nice is concerned with trying to make everyone else happy. Kindness is concerned with doing what is right, even when other people would rather you did what is wrong.

My auntie would happily give her last dollar to the most undeserving people. Took her 50 years to realise she was being taken advantage of. Now she can't be fucked dealing with anyone looking for help. She spent 50 years helping people, time to help herself.
