The ‘Bam Bam to Bang Bang’ sentence is such a perfectly crystallized composite of reference points. Thank you.

Too true with the Juno soundtrack. That and the 500 Days of Summer are the only two soundtracks I can remember buying as actual CDs

I think my favorite soundtrack is the social network one. It just hits on every level. From the moment I heard "in motion" I was hooked.

I’m so glad you made this video. I was so confused when I first saw the soundtrack and have heard no one talking about it lol

I first heard Scott Street through one of your videos and now me and all my friend group have seen Phoebe Bridgers in concert at least one and our group chat was also like what is this soundtrack so I’m a weird way this feels kinda full circle

One of the first albums I ever owned, (on CD) was the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie soundtrack. It mightve been a gift? I did not even like the movie that much and only saw it once. But I listened to that CD so much and there are some low key bops on it along with a couple sublimely teen melancholy anthems that I did listen to on repeat when I was feeling emo. It's a women singer-songwriter heavy soundtrack which is neat and features an early days Katy Perry song that I loved which is a little edgier than what she later became known for. There's some Brandi Carlile and a Five For Fighting tune; it has a very specific early 2000s indie vibe. I think it has some of the specificity you mention here; at least it felt very Relatable to me in my early teens.

as a tween i was obsessed with the movie garden state and that soundtrack still brings back nostalgic angsty feelings for me. also, i def feel like we’re in a minions renaissance.

I immediately thought of "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls being the perfect accompaniment to Treasure Planet which I have otherwise not thought about in years and don't remember anything else on the soundtrack. I went to fact check and it turns out that the song is actually called "I'm Still Here" also by The Goo Goo Dolls? and that lots of other people misremember it this way??? I still think "Iris" is very fitting and also appeals to my undying inner teen angst.

A less hallucinatory favorite (both songs and score): Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Just chef's-kiss perfection.

I listened movie soundtracks so often as a kid and teen! Some of my favorites were Juno (yes, that was how I discovered Kimya), The Breakfast Club, The Big Chill, Forrest Gump, and Dirty Dancing.

I think my favorite soundtrack is for Adventureland. A great collection of 70s-80s hits that, kinda like this album, are a bit shy of the most popular artists of the time, lots of Lou Reed and the Replacements. Might just be due to how much I love and have watched the movie, but yeah that soundtrack always puts me in a great place.

When I think 'best soundtracks' Blade Runner (the original) and Star Wars come to mind.

Hmmm... not a movie soundtrack, but Melodies of Hyrule, which backs The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorites to meditate through. It takes me on a journey.

The soundtrack to Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist definitely hit 15-year-old me right in the part of my heart. I don't listen to it much anymore, but what I DO find myself going back to all the time is the Easy A soundtrack - specifically Jessie J's "Sexy Silk" and Morningwood's cover of Amii Stewart's "Knock on Wood."

50/50 has an amazing soundtrack! Hit me in that total “it had to just be for me” way. As someone else said, also loved 500 Days of Summer
