The E-flite F-18 Hornet 80mm EDF features an all-new design that combines Extra Scale details and functional features with fantastic performance and easy handling to deliver an unmatched flying experience!

Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and Northrop, the F/A-18 Hornet is used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as both a fighter and an attack platform. Air forces of several other nations fly the F-18 as well. This replica has been modeled after the F/A-18D two-seat variant, operated primarily by the U.S. Marine Corps in night attack and Forward Air Controller (Airborne) [FAC(A)] roles. The trim and color scheme are taken from the U.S. Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 – the "Bats" – based in Iwakuni, Japan. An all-new design for experienced RC pilots, the E-flite® F-18 Hornet 80mm EDF provides an exceptional flying experience highlighted by an abundance of Extra Scale details and functional scale features including factory-installed LED lights, full-flying stabs, operational flaps and more!

I know I'm a bit late but I've just seen this post. I've just brought one myself and I have to say it's the nicest plane in my collection. having said that my spitfire just got bumped off. I'd love to see a F-111 as it was an iconic jet in the day here in Australia and was the first swing wing plane ever made, it would look awesome next to my tomcat.

At 6:30, it is mentioned the exact reason I bought this plane. I watched a Horizon Hobbies video of the F-18. I wasn't even in the market for a plane as I've been into surface RCs for quite some time. Both land and sea. I never thought I'd own a plane, let alone look into getting one. In the HH video I watched, it started with the plane in the air and the sound of it instantly caught my attention. I continued to watch and then I seen the detail of the plane. I instantly knew I'd have it. Lol. That being said, I purchased it and a DX8 at the same time. Ordered it Sunday having been wanting it for close to two months. Obviously, this being my "first" plane, I've still got a lot to learn before flying it. I'm going to get a trainer, 4 in 1, and learn how to fly first. Maybe even get the simulator, but that would require getting a PC. It probably won't be another two years before I'm confident enough to fly this F-18, but will definitely motivate me more to pay attention and practice as much as possible.

I got to sit in a f18 cockpit when I was 9. Not at a show. In a hanger.

Looks nice. My first RC Plane was an F-16 50mm Edf. A lot of sim training and I was able to fly this little jet. But yes jets are not realy beginner, now I'm flying turbine jets.

This is such a beautiful model. Unfortunately not suitable for my field but congratulations on a great release.

I fell in love with this plan the moment I saw it. But I got dissapointed when you mentioned that this F-18 was not for pilots that haven’t flew EDFs planes before 😔😔😔 I own a Carbon Cub S and XK 520 VTOL which I fly quite a lot, which EDF plane you would recommend to start with then? The Viber, the F-16 70 or the F-15 or any other?

I’m wondering if this jet would be too much for me. I’ve have a parkzone wildcat modded with the 1.2m warbird power system for 4s and a APC 10x10, as well as a P-39. As far as jets, I scratch built an Avro Vulcan foamy and used the 64mm F-15 power system. I then put that power system into a FT X-29. While these jets were both 3-channel, the X-29 flies very peculiarly, and the P-39 has the same channel count as the F-18

This would look really good in Blue Angels trim.

Let's see if y'all can make a extra scale or large scale F-22 Raptor

How can someone get this model, without the trim package?

Love the landing gear, Safe Select is genius because I can fly the plane without it and my son with it. Bravo 👏. Now release the file on the 636 so I can install it my FMS F18 and he can fly that one too

the lang gear is scale, you gotta land this bird high alpha, this is why this is not a beginner EDF...
