The Ryobi PSBCS02B 3-inch Cut-Off tool is part of the new Ryobi One+ HP Compact Tool lineup just released this month. This cut-off tool spins up to 19,500 RPM and can reverse directions with just the slide of the switch. An 18-volt One+ battery powers the brushless motor via the variable speed trigger.
We tested the Ryobi HP Brushless Cut-off tool on various materials and projects to ensure it's worthy of the claims. This tool is pretty impressive and you can push it pretty hard before it goes into overload protection. This is not a tool that you can use in production to continually cut material, but it's an excellent supplemental tool to get the job done.

How long does it take to cool down? I was getting frustrated today with it continuously overheating cutting steel

Don't be grabbing around the wheel area with the hand near the switch and the battery is still inserted. Accidents happen.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the larger battery was the HP version. Do you think that could account for the overheating? If so, could you try again with a HP battery and drop a comment in a future video, maybe?

As a single momma adding to her woodworking can I please make a suggestion ?? It is almost impossible to watch these must needed videos. Most of the time I watch these while working on other projects once my little lady is asleep. My favorite videos are those that almost mute the sound of the tools .. Granted I could use ear buds but nothing beats the sound projecting from my tv. But when I watch videos where the tool is as loud as the commentary I have to move on to the next. Its hard enough to find the time to be alone with my projects and get into the zone I can't risk waking the misses ! XoXo !

Too bad its only 3". All the quality tile blades are either 4" or 4 1/2" diameter. Any chance a 4" blade will fit?

How is the vibration? The m12 won't cut that metal at that depth without staling out. This is based of the m12 and not that ridgid which it's a a good thing.

Did the tool overheat at 6:40? Is that why the led was flashing and you tried to cover it with your thumb? I saw a video of the handsaw and it flashed like that when overheated too

It would be nice, and probably a big selling feature, if one of these tool companies would figure out that if their cordless cutoff tool used the same diameter and arbor size as pneumatic tools that they might sell more. That would make it easy for users to use whicever tool they need for the job at hand, and protect against future consumable availability as these types of cordless tools have a habit of disappearing after a year or two along with the required consumable items like blades. The cordless whould have to be limited in RPM to the same limits as pneumatic tools else there would be a risk of the disk exploding.
