Fugue Tingyun’s Path of NIHILITY EXPLAINED!

Ever since her drip marketing I knew I had an idea what this was going to be about. All according to plan! Another character that falls in line perfectly with my theory of in-game paths matching up with a character's life! I cannot be more confident in my theory now! 8:07 oooh I originally speculated that it was because Ruan mei tried to basically hook tingyun up with a little bit of entry-level nihility power so that she could hopefully develop an immunity to the reminiscent destruction power in her wounds, since Acheron says at one point that the power of the nihility makes her immune to the effects of the other paths

Honestly, I don’t think Nihility destroys memories. As we’ve seen with Tingyun, Destruction caused her so much trauma that her ability to remember her own life was simply too damaged. This form of memory loss came from pain inflicted upon her.

Then we have Acheron who seems naturally forgetful, however we also see that this forgetfulness is either a defensive mechanism or a convenient means of getting something done. The Nihility is a black hole, it doesn’t inflict pain on others, it consumes the entirety of others. This form of memory loss is the memory itself literally being taken away. Perhaps this is why Acheron acts forgetful so often, if she bears little to no memory, then little to no memory is consumed by the Nihility. If something significant does occur for her to remember, then she’ll remember you as conveniently as possible.

We also have Constance from the Annihilation Gang - Flame Manor. We’ve literally seen her erase memory of her from an object, and was able to feel someone looking into the memories of that object, and using those memories was able to talk directly to Black Swan using past memories. The Path of Remembrance once again shows us that it’s the Path of Manipulating Memories!

I think it's more like this...
In terms of lore/Story, Ruan Mei said that The Destruction Left a Mark(scar) on Tingyun's body and it can not be removed....
So if you combine this lore to a Gameplay, Fugue has 3 Path : Hunt, Nihility and Destruction...

Crazy high thought. What if part of the reason Ruan Mei gave Fugue/Tingyun more tails was to contain the gene/power of Tayzzyronth, whose path's power could counteract the effects of destruction left by Phantylia, but could also be another aeons power the Luofu use against Yaoshi. (I had this idea cause I thought the Propagation symbol in Sim Uni kinda looks like fox tails lol)

This does make sense though given the story she had in the update, it doesn't fully track as by the end of her part of the Trailblaze Continuance, Tingyun recalls a memory from long ago and seems to have a good number of them back as well. When looking at her Combat Path/Type after seeing her story in full, I assumed that her being Nihility is in reference to her adapting/living with the scars of the Destruction that will never leave her, almost nullifying their power over her to press forward. As we know, Nihility can overwrite others paths and their corresponding powers for a time, which is how Acheron not only stopped Ten Stoneheart Aventurine's final attack, and in turn cut into the dreamscape, but also cut through Eda's dream long enough to allow the Trailblazer and the Astral Express crew to face Sunday in true and stop Eda's Dream. With this logic, Tingyun's Nihility is effectively her robbing the Destruction's scars of their power over her, allowing her life to flourish once more as she moves along her Path of the Hunt.

It could be that while her memories were initially lost, in which was why her Combat Path/Type is Nihility at first, by the time we see her in the story, she's recovered a good deal of memories to the extent that she can look back to guide herself forward(Which reminds me of Zero from the Megaman Zero series by the end) and in turn, Nihility refers to her overpowering/nullifying the Destruction's scars and living her life. And even if this isn't true for her now, what's to say it won't in the future.

In either case, you are correct. This Combat Path/Type reflects a core aspect of Tingyun/Fugue, be it how she now fights(Jing Yuan is a good example of fighting style being reflected in the Type) or her character story(like the Herrscher of Reason himself, Welt Yang). Hoyoverse doesn't do things without a reason and in time I'm sure we'll learn in full what it is.

Issue with the video is Phantylia IS the destruction path, Shes an Emanator of Destruction point blank no ifs or buts. Her abilities ARE because shes a Heliobus thats it. Look at HuoHuos ult... Who is giving the energy and the buff? >.>


The ONLY reason Fugue is Nihility is because Phantylia is destroying/marked her with destruction (the lotus mark on her)
