Westgate Shopping Mall (also known as Westgate) is an upscale shopping mall located in the Westlands division of Nairobi, Kenya. It was first opened in 2007.

Overview
The five-storey mall opened in 2007 and included 350,000 square feet (33,000 m2) of retail space and housed more than 90 stores.[2] Nakumatt and Planet Media Cinemas anchored the mall. Other large units included Identity, Mr. Price Home, Artcaffe, and Barclays Bank on the ground floor, and Millionaires Casino on the second floor. Smaller units included outlets for international brands Adidas, Bata Shoes, CFC Stanbic Bank, Converse, FedEx, and Samsung Mobile.

The luxury shopping center was popular with Kenya's new consumer class, as well as foreign officials and expatriates.

As a Kenyan living in London, UK, this vlog makes me feel proud that Kenya has supermarkets which rivals the UK Supermarkets as well as shopping malls that are on equal footing with many of the shopping malls in London.

Hi Jay, thanks for showing us this. Through your vlog i managed to see other African countries. As South Africans we tend to think there could be no better place than SA in Africa. When we travel its either the US or Europe, we never go to other countries within the continent because we are given the perception that they are too poor or nothing good about them. Maybe some day in future when finances permit one can consider travelling the entire Africa.

Great vid Jay! Your exclamation at the hair products is a fair one…as a Kenyan married to a Black woman, that’s something that I’d say is hard to explain as there truly isn’t a culture around hair—even though Kenya does have the resources to produce and export some incredible products. Just my thoughts, but again, great point and great video. (I’m currently out West with my wife’s family, hoping to visit Kenya later this year or earlier 2024…)

Westgate mall is a really nice mall. The architecture and aesthetics differentiates it from many malls in Kenya. Try village market in Gigiri area, one of the oldest malls in Kenya and among the best if not the best.

How were you able to film in this high security mall? After the deadly attack in 2013 the mall is heavily guarded and security is very tight!
