He's also good example of how to do OP right from the powet progression perspective. It's often difficult to justify why the OP character isn't there to solve the conflict when they could do it immediately. Early Magi and Sinbad losing his Metal Vessels is example how to make that feel kinda forced and contrived. Or some examples from other series like Gildarts always traveling in FT, every filler arc enemy finding a McGuffin way to restrict Yamamoto in Bleach and so on. But a bit later in Magi's story it becomes clear that Sinbad indeed could just solve any conflict with brute force but in doing so he would most likely plunge entire world into war or leave his nation defenseless. And when his power is restricted by that black Rukh curse, in reality he's just pretending he can't deal with it to play everyone around him. He could act in most cases, it's just that doing so doesn't serve his best interest so he won't
