I work in a department store where I sell DeMellier bags, and the indents on the bag are definitely not normal!! Never seen something like that!! What is nice about the brand is that the hardware is 24k gold plated. And they have a life long repair service!

I have been eyeing the Demellier midi New York tote. I wasn’t too comfortable with the way the leather appears on this bag. The indentations on it being a brand new bag gives me pause. Have a good weekend💕

I love the color. I’ve seen their bags at Saks and they look to be very good quality. I did notice the indentation in the back. I’ve seen that happen when the leather shrinks from going from hot to cold. Could have been from their warehouse.

Putting aside preferences of colour (blue is my eternal weakness!) I would go for the bag you bought previously. The bigger capacity is an issue but that on its own would not bring me to send it back. For me, the issue on the back with the indentation would definitely be sufficient reason. At first I could ignore it, but over time it would bug me. Maybe with a pre-loved bag it would not be such a big thing, but on a new bag, I want something as close to perfect condition as can be! Hi Autumn - I do like the look of the DeMellier but I really like the capacity of the auguste- I would be afraid of scratches on the smooth leather and smooth sizeable hardware. But it is beautiful 😊

Personally I would place backing plate for clasp between two layers of the leather on flap so it wouldn't leave indent on front and you wouldn't see all those screws. I think they shipped bags stacked on top of each other, not in separate boxes, and you got one from the bottom of the pile.

I think that both bags look stunning but the brown one holds not enough because of the way that it’s shaped.

I had the chance to try on a demellier bag when I was in Europe earlier in the year (they’re not stocked in Australia as far as I know). I didn’t like its rigidity, and lack of capacity. I also didnt like how hard the strap was to convert. I felt it was a bag that looked good, but I’d never want to use. I also tried on a Strathberry nano-tote bag, which was much better quality and design, though a bit small to use as anything but an evening bag (so I couldn’t justify the purchase). I think about that Strathberry bag a lot :)

I keep getting ads for the demil...I can't spell that 😂 but I did notice that it looks like the AA bag, I appreciate the comparison because I was thinking of getting one. I like the AA one better. I have a bag that's similar to the AA, the clasp is smooth but everything else looks the same and I like it but definitely not getting the D one since it takers and that would drive me crazy. I like the color though.
