Imagine total immersion telepresence that allows workers to work remotely in hazardous areas. A machine, a robot represents you at a remote location. You see what the robot sees. The robot grabs a heavy tool guided by you acting and directing a job from a safe and virtual environment. Think of the submersible robot trying to cap a blown-out oil well, being remotely operated from the surface. Now imagine the machine allowing a human presence down there acting in near synchrony and feeling the tool in his hands. Then imagine the sensor information, data streams, training an AI to become autonomous, able to do the same kind of job at another location without an operator.
