Hermione being able to travel through time might be the worst case of "using a power/ability once then otherwise ignoring it" in cinematic history, and that's saying something. The applications and ramifications are endless, especially if you acknowledge how unlikely it is that she's be the only one that can time-travel.

Interestingly, in the book it's mentioned there's an invisible book of invisibility that "didn't do so well." So, I think wizards just don't think these things through.

I have visualised many times how they could prove Sirius's innocence but the thing about pulling memories and watching them never popped up until Ryan mentioned it.
