World Cup 2022: European teams criticised for backing out of wearing One Love armbands

European teams have been criticised after backing down from wearing the One Love armbands during football matches in the Qatar World Cup.

Teams made the U-turn decision after Fifa issued an edict vowing to penalise players wearing the armband with a yellow card.

The One Love band contains the rainbow colours associated with the Pride flag and would be seen as a strong statement in Qatar, where same-sex relations are illegal.
