Being a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, I love watching his movies. Not once. Not twice. But any day, any time. So, I wanted to study and analyse some of his filmmaking techniques, most importantly his blocking.
And what better example for a case study than Paths Of Glory (1957)? This video is being uploaded on Stanley Kubrick's 93rd birth anniversary.
Watch how Stanley Kubrick blocks a scene and visualises manipulation and corruption in a scene from "Paths Of Glory".

Thanks for watching. If you're impressed by my analysis, please like and share this video and also, subscribe to my channel. If you want to see more cinematic content, feel free to write any suggestions on which I could make video essays.

This is an excellent break-down and the visual animation is super helpful and well-done. I’m really glad you chose this scene, as opposed to the trial scene. The trial scene is great but there’s a lot more going on and it’s a less concise example of his subtle direction. Thank you!

It is crazy that THIS, of his earliest films, is perhaps the most heartbreaking.

This is great. Love the animated layout. Helps visualise what the camera is doing and where the actors are going. Subbed and liked!
